My Mom was abusive too. That is what the food means so much to me. Cooking food for me was love. I did not get what I needed from her, but the food replaced that. She was a great cook and so was my father. I am the only one who is not a good cook and I have a complex about it. Thanks to the Food Network and a Weight Watchers Cookbook I have learned to eat better and my cooking skills has improved dramatically. Both of my parents are gone so no one knows how much I have improved. My food issues go really deep. I think I have alot of journal work ahead of me. Subject: Re: First time in 20

I can relate to this, but in a completely opposite way. I had a very abusive relationship with my mother as a child and she was a pretty bad cook who did not keep much food in the house. I grew up learning to make do with what was in there and to worship "good" or "normal" food whenever I was around it. I realize that now even more while reading these posts. So for me food equaled comfort too much but not in the same way. I found myself as an adult eating to rebel. Hmmm...thanks for the spark. Makes you think.

She died when I was only 12 years old as 3 months before I turn 13 years old. Anyway yeah I had remember it too well what was her favorite foods. It was chinese foods, hamburger (especially bacon, cheese, onion, and tomato), stew, and a few others. Amazed how well I remember so long ago.

Eliza,

Thanks for your reply. I am just beginning to scratch the surface of those

issues, with the help of intuitive eating.

I think that would be worse to have good food you couldn't have enough of. ;-)

Mmm.. veggie lover. :-)

She would bake these small loaves of bread for my sister, brother and I. She

would make this incredible stew when it was raining outside. We would put the

stew over white rice and eat the bread and we would be in heaven. I can still

smell the stew in my memories. I get sad now when I think about that.  she has

been gone for 15 years.

memories of her. Hold your head up high as your radiate your beauty in your

mother's memory.
