Laurie I can think of no better thing than to be where one really wants to be. I

spent most of my childhood summers on the coast, but it was the rugged, damp and

windy northern part of California so I had my 'fill' of it then. Isn't that

wonderful because now your lovely beach has one less person on it - LOL!!

It must be very relaxing, living in the country.  I live down the shore which I

love very much.

Hi Katcha,

I think the California coast is so beautiful, though I live on the east coast, NJ, and I grew up visiting the Atlantic ocean :.) I don't think the NJ coast would be rated as the most beautiful in the world, lol, but I'm biased and of course I think it is. Are you in California?

Hi Jeanne,

It sounds like you are an ocean lover like me :.) Are you far from the beach?

I just moved here four years ago; I've always loved the ocean more than most so this was a great move. The ocean is spiritual and more than recreation for me, but it's also great fun to swim; I have a wetsuit so I can swim pretty much til mid November before it is too cold for me. I'm no crazy surfer, but I saw a bodyboarder in the ocean in February while I was taking a walk on the beach; it was snowing and he was just having a great old time out there. lol

I'm a size 18/20 so you can imagine my figure in a wetsuit, but I don't care at all what anyone thinks of that because it's something I'd never forego because I'm not thin.

Laurie, I'm jealous! Have always wanted to live on the beach or in close proximity to the ocean.

Hi back, Laurie, we are further than what we'd like to be! We live in Georgia

just outside of Atlanta. We can be at the Atlantic in about five hours and the

Gulf around six hours. You are correct about the ocean being spiritual! Love

the peace and serenity of it also.

Don't worry about your size! Think the important thing is being healthy and

comfortable with yourself. One thing I've always hated no matter what size I've

been was wearing a darn swimsuit or something similiar! Just agony!

All the best,

Jeanne

Laurie, the coast in northern California, southern Oregon is very ruggedly

beautiful. I guess what got to me was that jeans and a sweat shirt were my

'summer outfits'. That and the constant cold/damp with salt stickiness thrown

in! I did enjoy wandering on the beach, driftwood gazing and playing with the

waves, but swimming in salt water has never been something I enjoyed. So for me,

short visits to the coast for a change is fine, but living there isn't what I

wanted to do. As it is, I do have a fabulous view from our house that makes up

for any ocean view I ever saw. (I've downloaded a picture of that view into the

pictures here)

And yes I am in California - way up north, but inland too. We do get over to the

coast at least once or twice a year (3 hr drive). I've also included a couple of

pictures from the area we see there.

That's an awesome outlook, Laurie.  It's not about what others will think of the way you look in a wetsuit.  You are pursuing something you enjoy.  More power to you!

Hi Sharon,

I read your email about not even thinking of food when stressed; that was fantastic!! You sound like you're doing very well and I'm very happy for you.

Thanks for the wetsuit compliment; I wore that wetsuit in front of a bunch of skinny lifeguards and surfers and I acted like I thought I was the sexiest woman on the beach, lol :.)

Laurie odds are that you ARE the 'sexiest' on the beach because sexy comes more

from attitude and actions than from an 'image' or trying to 'be' what one thinks

others think is .....!!! Ride that surf you go gal :)

Hi Katcha,

I read what you wrote three or four times because it was so nice, and I wanted it to really sink in! You're right that "sexy" doesn't come from outer image but really from what we feel and project. I want to remember that for my next beach adventure :.) Maybe the polar bear club? Nah

Thanks for all your support :.)

In my opinion, you WERE the sexiest woman on the beach at that moment because you loved YOURSELF.  Sexiness is not really about how we look on the outside as it is what our mindset it on the inside and how happy we are with ourselves.  Right?

Blessings,

Sharon
