Guest guest
Hi Joe, I had a treatment with the star pulse laser and it helped a little, but not very much. It is not the same as photoderm, which has helped me a great deal. Guest guest
Hi Meg, First let me thank you for documenting your photoderm treatment so well. I am fairly new to the list, but saw from your recent notes that you seem to be near the end of your treatment cycle. I ran a scan of the archives and read your photoderm updates back to your treatment #4 post on 10/30/99. They are extremely thorough. My symptoms are very similar to yours - blushing and flushing. I was quite interested when you mentioned that your testing indicated no perspiration. I also quit sweating when my symptoms became severe 3 years ago. When mine first flared, my face burned so badly that I would keep the temp in my house below 65, cover up and lie with the fan about one foot from my face to stop the burning. I saw about 10 docs, had X-Rays and numerous rounds of testing; results were all negative. Finally now the condition is somewhat under control via oral medications and lifestyle modifications on my part. <<My recovery time has varied and has been different lengths for different treatments. Some have only been a day or two, and my worst was a week and a half. I think we all react differently. Good luck with your treatment.>> One question - have you experienced much " down time " during recovery from photoderm sessions, i.e., having symptoms so severe that you would be unable to work, go out shopping, etc? I recall Dr. Nase' remark that he would have his treatments on Friday, then after a 3-day weekend he was able to go back to work on Monday. Have you had similar recovery process after treatments? I'm thinking about visiting Dr. Bitter's clinic myself, but am somewhat concerned about post-treatment recovery. Again, thanks for all of the info in your posts. --Jim Re: StarPulse and spider viens

Guest guest
Hi Jim, Yes, your experience sounds a lot like mine! Especially having to keep the house cool and sleep with a fan! My flushing became so severe that I had to stop working for about 4 months. I had my first appointment with Dr. Bitter about a month after I left work, and after 3 months of treatment, I was able to return to work. I have only had a small amount of occasional flushing now that I am back to work. Its such a relief! I am determined to go as far as I need to to try an eradicate the flushing. I am quite good after 9 treatments, but will continue until I am flush free, or I don't see any results at all. Dr. Bitter believes I will need touch ups every 12 to 18 months once I have stopped my treatments. Regarding your question on down time. Every treatment has varied for me. My 3rd and 5th treatments were the worst. I was very swollen for one to one and a half weeks. Now, its much milder and I can have a treat- ment on Friday and go to work on Monday with very mild swelling. Everyone reacts differently, though. Some report little to no sweling, while other have severe swelling. I find it is sometimes worse when they go close to the eyes, so the treatments where I had my eyelids done had more swelling then the others. Hope that helps. Guest guest
Joe, Is the " Star Pulse " an nd-YAG laser? If so, it ought to be good for " zapping and nuking " those capillaries on the face.
