Guest guest
Hey ...I'm sure it is normal to have fears going in to surgery. I went to the Oakland support group on Wednesday, and we had a plastic surgeon from Kaiser give us a talk. He asked what reservations people had about surgery in general, and many said "the anesthesia". He told us that there is a lot of press about anesthesia...particularly because int he past, that was a major weak link in the health care arena. But, there have been a lot of developments in the science...for example, they don't give you as much or keep you out as long anymore...and they get you up and walking sooner. All of that is an improvement in that area...and improvement means less risk. You'll be in able hands. Jsut remind yourself of that. More people die in car accidents (proportionately) than under the knife. So, remind yourself that while it is a big deal to go through surgery, you aren't taking a foolish risk. IT's a calculated risk: designed to bring you to a better place, where you are healthy and LESS likely to die prematurely. DOn't feel embarrassed or bad about your feelings. As my mother always said, "Feelings are neither right, nor wrong. They just are." You'll do great!! wrote: Colleen and I are the only jan/feb surgery dates that are on thecalendar. I know there are more of you out there. So join in. Ilove the idea that we will have prayers and thoughts while we are"under".I am starting to get nervous. I really thought I was going to justwaltz in to surgery without a care in the world but I am starting toget a bit jittery. I am sure yesterday wasn't the best day for thateither as I skipped lunch and am finding I just can't do that (live ona protein shake in the am and not eat until dinner. That is only 110calories for me). I am not nervous about the surgery but about theanestesia. Silly, I know but just me. I will try to relax about suchthings so all goes well that day.You guys are the best. -- Musil in Citrus Heightsscorchio321 @ gmail.comKP RichmondOrientation: Nov. 13th (276 lbs)Surgeon Consult: January 4th (246 lbs - at goal)Surgery date: January 31st

Guest guest
I'll be there! I'm not sure if she was in the office, she's on the opposite side of the building from me...oh no, wait! Yes, she was there for part of the day because she rescheduled a meeting between me and one of the attorneys she works for. I'm glad that I have helped your psyche (the "e" is pronounced as if there is a double ee, but there isn't). Sometimes, we just need to hear the objective truth from a third party. I'm excited to meet you! wrote: You are so good for my psycheeee (however you spell that). I hope youare able to make it in to see me. Concider yourself pretty special asI am telling everyone but my mother, husband, daughter, pam andyourself to stay away. But you I do want to see. But only if it isconvienent and if I am still around. :)Take care and sweet dreams. PS. pam didn't write to me today. Was she at work?
