Guest guest
deb,I think most if not all of us gained some weight in the beginning of the process. i KNOW it's scary, but try to trust your body and the process. you have to work your way through all the rebelling that comes from years of dieting... once you prove to yourself that you wont restrict, the bingeing will subside. my only advice would be to try and eat consciously... so if you are eating when you are not hungry, tell yourself -- i'm eating right now even though i'm hungry, and that's ok -- and ideally, identify if there is something going on with you that's making you want to eat, ie you are tired, anxious, lonely, whatever. this WILL get easier and less scary!abby I'm confused. I seem to be the type of person that is easily confused. Overeating makes me more confused. So I look forward to the day when I can make more sense of things via intuitive eating. As I mentioned before, I'm seeing an RD and also studying the AAT book by Craighead (which I discovered is on Katcha's book list here -thanks Katcha for the list.) The problem is - I am bingeing now more than ever. I started out okay but I just seem to be doing horribly now. The RD and I discuss the basic things - waiting till my hunger is at a certain level, then eating whatever I chose to eat, then stopping at moderate fullness. Sounds easy enough, right? Consequently, I am experiencing alot more anxiety because I know I have gained all the weight back that I lost last year on a diet program. My RD says this will take awhile and that I really have to recognize the baby steps of progress. I do trust this way of eating but I guess I dont trust myself. I'm glad I found this group. Have a great day everybody! Deb --
Guest guest
It is okay to be confused at time. Usual first baby step is to learn trust yourself and your body by doing some mistakes along. However, the catch is there no mistakes about overeating. Depend on from day to day how your body feel hungry less or more. Give yourself little a time that your eating habit will change as you will noticed how your body reacts. Eliza > > I'm confused. I seem to be the type of person that is easily confused. Guest guest
Thanks Abby. I appreciate your feedback. I have a history of moderate to severe depression which helps make things worse for me. Sometimes I feel like I'm just walking through mud just trying to get through a day. I realize alot of this behavior can be changed but I allow the excess food to keep me in that prison I've mostly created. I feel better today - I guess it's helped that the sun finally came out here in PA!!! Guest guest
Dear Eliza: Thank you for your input. I feel better today. I'm sitting here typing this and my stomach feels a little hungry. At first I was scared of that but then I thought to myself, " this is okay, my body is speaking to me and I need to start trusting it. " Have a good day. Deb > > It is okay to be confused at time.
