So glad you liked everyone, and felt very comfortable with them all. That

makes such a huge difference in chosing what's best for you.

May is right around the corner sweetie, this is enough time to concentrate

on trying to lose some weight, while gaining more knowledge for post-op

care.

I'm confident you'll do well, even if your hair is pink that day! LOL!

Dawn

I didn't know you have an 11 yo! Small world!

Hi ,

I am pre op with Dr. Thayer myself, and I too felt a lot of the same

feelings when I met Dr. Thayer about a month ago. I went into his

office feeling like I was going to be the only person over 600 pounds

that ever walked in there. And Dr.T assured me that I wasn't the

first one, and he assured me I wouldn't be the last. And for some

strange reason, I felt " comfortated " by that. Guess I always felt I

was the largest person on earth, and that I wouldn't be able to have

this surgery. But he reassured me that although I would be " high

risk " I was indeed an excellent patient for this surgery. He also

asked that I lose 10 to 15 pounds before my surgery.

Since then I have had a better outlook,I have started dieting and even

managed to start walking. Eventhough its just a few hunderd feet a

day, I try to keep myself moving. Dr. Thayer, with the aid of a few

wonderful friends,(and some encouraging words from BETH at my first

meeting THANKS BETH) they have given me the confidence to finally do

something to change my life for the better. And it all started the

day I walked into his office.

SO I feel that even before the surgery, I am already on my way to a

new me! And by the sounds of things So are you!! Congrats

Luv Suz

Hehe...That's exactly how I felt. Although he did express concern, and say

that I was very high risk, he was very very positive and encouraging. When

he first met me, my wife was next to me and he said " You're a big boy. " and

my wife just started laughing...Aparantly she thinks I have a boy-like charm

about me that people pick up on. Hehe. Since I'm 6'4 " and tower over Dr.

Thayer, when they took my picture he said " You're so tall, you remind me of

the guy from the Bond films " and the nutritionist(Forgot her name) and

Sally were standing there. They were like " What? That's not even true, you

look nothing like 'Jaws' " ...My response was " Well, I can see how Dr. Thayer

could see the resemblence. I often find myself eating large steel cables as

well sometimes. " They all cracked up and then Dr. Thayer said " Oh, I have

to introduce you to Dr. Reines! " and then went and interupted whatever he

was doing to drag him out to meet me. Hehe...So overall, I think the

appointment went really well :) Thanks for the words of encouragement Suz,

they help alot to know that I'm not completely alone where I am. :)

Hi Lyssa,

I'm 6'4 " . I think I'll try and make the one on the 3rd Tuesday.

Thanks for the support :) I'm sure I'll be able to lose the 30 pounds too.

I think I'm gonna be living on salads, protein and vegies and fruits. I

just have to get on a good schedule and stay on track. Hehe...

Sorry you couldn't make the meeting. You will really enjoy them. You know, if you have to, you can bring your child once in awhile. Sometimes, people do. Of course, he will probably get bored.

Congrats on getting your surgery date. My consultation with Dr. Thayer was last February and I also had surgery in May. Must be a busy time of year for them. Keep us posted on your progress.
