Guest guest
It's the introduction of the acidophilus bacteria to repopulate the gut that is essential. SCD yogurt is ideal for this..... and has healing properties that go beyond just supplementing with acidophilus in capsules. Quite a few parents here have used nut yogurt...... it would be better than just supplementing. Some of our other list parents have found that after some length of time on strict compliance with SCD, and using either nut yogurt or acidophilus supplements along the way, their kids have been able to tolerate introducing SCD goat yogurt...... starting with very, very small amounts and working up slowly. Patti, mom to Katera Yogurt Regarding the yogurt. My daughter can't have the dairy so we could do nut yogurt if necessary. My question is, is the yogurt part of the SCD? Is it critical we do it or just an addition if we want to? Hopefully my question makes sense. Lainie
Guest guest
As my daughter is just learning to use a fork, the thought of a spoon and yogurt seem frightening:) Just as a back up plan, if I drip the yogurt less, will it my more of a liquid that you can drink? Guest guest
Yes..... it's fine to drink the yogurt. Some of the SCD parents make great smoothies with it. Good luck! Guest guest
Lainie, If you make goat yogurt and you do not drip it, it will be thin enough to drink. But since you start with such a small amount (1/8-1/4 tsp), you could probably just use a medicine dropper if she will accept that in her mouth. What does she like to eat? Maybe you could just mix 1/4 tsp of yogurt into something she already eats or drinks. Jody mom to -5 and -7 SCD 18 months
Guest guest
Jody, I'll be making nut yogurt so hopefully the same applies regarding it being thin enough to drink. I would just drop a little in her water/supplements as she drinks that easily (not sure how:). She just drinks water and her foods are not creamy, etc. Thanks. Guest guest
Lainie, The nut yogurt does come out thicker than the goat yogurt, but you could easily make some nut milk and see if she will drink it. Then you could just add a small amount of the nut yogurt to the nut milk for her to drink. Jody mom to -5 and -7 SCD 18 months
