Guest guest
I was reading through the comments about the Biggest Loser and I had to respond. What drew me to the show initially is what drew me to a diet. I am fascinated by looking at before and after pictures - it's sort of a fantasy come true. After starting IE and weekly sessions with a registered dietician that supports IE, I started getting angry at the biggest loser show for all what seemed to be the " shallowness " of a reality show. But now I am starting to look at it in a different way. In the same way I used to put down 12 step groups, I now can see bits of hope through new eyes. I guess sometimes it's just hard to sift through it. I watched the show this past week where the trainer Bob came to visit the guy that was the winner on the show and then gained back much of the weight. What made me want to cry tears of joy is when the contestant said something like, " yeah I gotta go back and do the same thing I was doing, " and Bob said something like, " NO!!!, you need BALANCE in your life! - YOU ALREADY KNOW HOW TO LOSE WEIGHT !!! IT'S NOT ABOUT THAT AT ALL!!!! Another thing that I am continually intrigued by is the empowering feeling these contestants get and show by achieving a personal goal. On that same show there was that guy that did the triathalon - they focused alot of time on his story. He is by society's standards an overweight individual. I get goosebumps thinking about it - what an awesome feeling it must have been to have crossed that finish line! I find it hard to think of a personal goal of my own that is not related to weight loss and/or something " outside myself. " But I am trying. What really bugs me right now is the fact that I have little stamina and my knees hurt if I do too much. There is a gnawing feeling inside me that really wants to participate more in my life! I think this feeling is the motivator to setting a goal. Thanks, Deb

I just want to say that I seriously think you can and will continue to go forward in ways that are positive for you. Thanks for bringing a different view to our awareness. Guest guest
You are welcome Deb I need the kindness myself and always find sincere support here too. I think we all do a marvelous job of helping each other while helping ourselves too. ehugs, Katcha > > > > Deb your posts have me believing in your abilities!
