Guest guest
Welcome Regina! Looking forward to getting to know you. Sorry to hear about all of the complications you are suffering. I had some complications in the beginning, but now everything is going great! I hope you get approved for the bypass procedure and can start living the life we all are enjoying now. Take care and keep in touch. in Virginia 299/235/150 Lap RNY: 5/3/06 Newbie from Germany! Hi! My name ist Regina and I live in Germany. This kind of surgery is not all that well-know here and therefore I am always looking into US sites in order to gain information. I am 5 7 " and weigh about 300 US pounds (we do kilo´s here). I had a Lap Band in 1997 and lost about 70 pounds with it in the first year. The second year I only lost 10 pounds and they discovered that my stomach slipped out of the band (oops!) so I had to have surgery again and it was sew into place. Since then I have steadily gained all the weight back and have become very ill. I was diagnosed with Diabetes in 2002. In 2003 sleep-apnea. NOW...in March 2006 I had a heart attack (oh...my blood pressure is really high) and since 3 weeks (July 2003) I was having severe shortness of breath and had to go to the hospital again where it was discovered that my blood only contained 53 % oxygen! I was told to loose ALOT od weight, FAST! Yeah...right...tell me about it! So....I made an appointement with my Lap Band doctor. In the meantime he is a bit famous in Germany/Europe and supposedly the 3rd best batritric (spelling?) surgeon in the world. Proffesor Dr. Weiner in furt Sachsenhausen. He really " let me have " it and just said OK...I will take out the band and we will apply for the RNY. I told him that I wasnt even sure that I wanted it...He said " Oh....you arent sure? I said " Noooo....I am sooo scrade that I will die ( I meant during/after surgery) and he said " Oh...you WILL die...and it wont take too much longer if you DON´T have the surgery! My 11 year old boy was sitting next to me when the tears started pouring down my face and HE comforted ME! So...I guess I have t get all my paperwork together! But I am just so scraed. I mean....I already have a weak heart and lungs and I´ve heard of people having heart attacks or embolisms during surgery! Well, I hope I will find some answers here. I know I´ve found inspiration. Oh...I am 44 years old! Thanks! Regina
