Guest guest
Audrey, I did not have a diet prior to surgery. I did begin protein shakes and high protein meals on my own about 2 weeks prior. I lost 13 pounds. I did however eat what I wanted if I was really craving something during those two weeks, just in moderation. Good Luck,
Guest guest
Hi Audrey, Sounds like you are doing pretty good! I wasn't required to do any kind of diet in preparation for my surgery. My surgeon has been doing this WLS for over 10 years and said he used to require one, but found it didn't make much difference. But, if your surgeon requires it, you should follow to avoid any possible delays. I wish you continued success! in Virginia 299/235/150 Lap RNY: 5/3/06 10 Days To Go! Well, I'm on my liquid diet now for the 5th day and I must say it's not going too bad. I did treat myself to popcorn at the movies on Friday night tho, which I had planned. Other than that, my diet has consisted of Atkins protein shakes (3 per day), applesauce, cottage cheese, yogurt, a variety of cream soups, sf pudding, sf jello and crystal light drinks. Yesterday I wanted a salad so bad. We went shopping after church and I drank my Atkins shake on the way. I got so empty and feeling like my sugar dropped, I had to have something, so I picked up a frostie at 's. My family was with me and my youngest step-daughter wanted a burger, but her dad told her no because it wouldn't be fair to mom, so they all had a frostie also. I am so thankful because my whole family is being so supportive. I have 10 days left on this diet, then my big day! I am just wondering how many others of you had to do such a stringent diet prior to your surgery and did any of you sidetrack at all? I feel that one decent meal couldn't hurt still at this point, but I also don't want to ruin this mission. I really don't feel hungry, I am quite satisfied with the selections I have. I also do feel some of the weight starting to come off and by the scale, I have lost a few pounds. Sorry for such a long post, just needing some feedback and encouragement. Thanks for listening, Audrey
