Guest guest
Katcha, My goal for tomorrow is to not weigh myself. I'll tell you how it goes. Thanks for all the support, Judy To: IntuitiveEating_Support Sent: Sun, November 22, 2009 11:37:48 AMSubject: Re letting go of 'the scale' Judy, not weighing myself wasn't one of my challenges, but I think the underlying reason for this is a universal one we all got from diet mentality - You can't trust yourself! That is what weighing is really all about - not being able to rely on what your BODY 'tells' you, but instead taking the OPINION of something outside of your own self as 'truth' (and judgment!). I'm not going to tell you to STOP THIS IMMEDIATELY! as that would be just another EXternal input that you don't need really. I will share with you that my own scale sits in my bathroom, ignored (and unloved - lol) and gathering dust. I have left it there not only as a reminder to my not needing to use it, but also to be available if I ever do feel a need to weigh myself. (So far I've been able to keep to my own 'vow' to not weigh until my pants fall off - giggles). BEST wishes to you, Katcha IEing since March 2007 > > hi everyone, > i,m having a hard time giving up my bathroom scale.i honestly have anxiety attacks sometimes when i don't weigh myself the same time every morning. i have thrown many scales out of my second story window, took a hammer to one,but within a week i always buy another one. i know it sounds crazy but this whole eating thing is crazy. i haven't weighed or measured my food since i started this group. but i get really anxious when i get hungry. most of the time i haven't had the courage to eat what i want which is mostly sugar or high fat type foods. i have a very long history of dieting so my mind diet chatter is instilled in my brain very well. it is so hard to let go of .i'm afraid to give it up because what will happen then? anyway thanks for listening to me my family gets tired of hearing me complain about my weight. > > > thanks, judy >
Guest guest
Judy I think that could be a lovely gift to bestow on yourself Just let it (not) happen and if you can, think of a positive response you can have ready for yourself if this issue pops up for you during the day. If at all possible track back a little bit from the moment that weighing popped into your head and see if you can find the previous thought/feeling. This can be a very insightful connection for you.
