- so you are on 4.5 grains of Armour - and how much Cytomel did

you add?

I was taking 4.5 grains Armour when I had my last labs run. The labs showed

my Free T3 way below range and my Free T4 was above the middle of it's

range. My TSH was at 0.01. So much for TSH tests! LOL I listened to the Free

T3 reading which my lovely Doctor said my levels were " FINE " but I felt the

low Free T3 warranted trying some Cytomel. I have since realized as I do not

seem to convert T4 into T3 at all, it helps me best to take my meds in 3-4

times a day dosages. This has stopped the slumps I used to have. Some people

have asked my why I don;t just take Cytomel, well I tried that, and there is

still something in Armour that I need as I just plain feel better when I

take Armour plus the Cytomel. I am really excited about my last increase as

some really long term symptoms have gone. If I don;t go hyper on it when the

T4 has a chance to build up, I will probably be at my ideal dosage. I feel

wonderful. Now to try a diet & see if I can finally lose some weight and

keep it off. My eating habits are good so if my thyroid meds are right, I

should be able to lose, but I am waiting to try a diet till the full effects

of this dosage are felt. I need to take one thing at a time to make sure it

is right, then move on to the next.

NOPE, I WAS on 4.5 when I first added Cytomel. I tried 12.5mcg for a few

days then went to 12.5mcg 2X a day then 25 mcg Am and 12.5mcg around noon.

I was still having alot of hypo symptoms so I have been increasing my Armour

too. I am now at 7 grains Armour and 37.5mcg Cytomel this dosage is broken

into 4 times a day. I have been on this dosage about 2 1/2 weeks. I am not

feeling hyper, but did have problems sleeping last night for the first time

in about a month, then I realized I made a pot of coffee last evening. Used

to be I could drink coffee at bedtime or even in the middle of the night &

it would relax me back to sleep. I guess caffeine is WORKING on me now too!

LOL No more evening coffee. I did have some heart pounding fir about 3 days

last week, but no worse than any time I have raised my dosage, and it is

gone now. I am way overdue for labs, for curiosity sake! It has been about 2

years since I had my blood drawn, and I would really be curious to know what

it looks like now. But I doubt I would want my Dr here to see them! LOL

- this is very interesting. So you went up to 7 grains, little

by little, just based on how you felt? No labs, no doctor to advise.....

?? I just increased to 4 grains and felt better this weekend than I

have in a long time. It kind of scares me to self-medicate, and that's

why the experiences shared here are so important to me. So heart palps

for a few days are OK? ....joan

I can't say I have ever had true palps. Pounding is different. I have had

palps described to me and nope they ain't there! My Doctor is a mercury

thermometer. This week I have stabilized at an average daily temp of 98.6

for the first time since I was a small child!!! I have always had a low body

temp and been very ill when it got to even 99 degrees. Sure that was a heck

of a fever when my temp was usually 96. I occasionally check my pulse and

blood pressure just to keep tabs on it, but my blood pressure has stayed

very calm since the first year passed of my self treatment. DOCTORS almost

killed me with Synthroid which I was dying of low thyroid while I took it.

Doctors put me in rubber compression pantyhose for a miserable summer saying

it was vericose veins. Funny they are gone now. What's to fear? I feel

better treating myself and have become very in tune to my own body rhythms

and needs over this past 4 1/2 years I have self treated. If left to the 5-6

doctors I went in a flurry to right before I said screw them, I would at

least be in a wheel chair, unemployed, and on welfare now if not dead!

Instead I have a soon to celebrate my first year anniversary booming pet

grooming business that is even now supporting me well, and I feel like I may

start going out again soon. Heck I might even entertain the idea of dating

again! OOOPS, too much Oestrogel... LOL

- congratulations on your improved health and your booming grooming

business! I have wanted to ask... but felt too stupid..... what is the

difference between heart palps and 'pounding'? Your other comment hit home

with me, about being in tune with your body. I see that in many posts

here. I'm sure that facilitates knowing how to administer medicine,

supplements, various foods, etc. Me, I don't have a clue what affects

what..... but I'm trying to learn!
