Guest guest
Deb, its so interesting and empowering to find associations that we have with foods and eating, especially those not really about the food! My dear mom had a very opposite attitude about 'treating' the sick. Whenever any of us were not feeling well, she would leave us in our beds to get on with the 'business' of being sick. She would check in at times to see if there was anything we needed, but we learned that being 'sick' was just that - time for one's body to recover its health and not a 'fun' or to-be-coddled time. Besides her not needing to play nurse to us, we learned to allow ourselves to turn over our focus to regaining health by doing what we needed - rest and eating/drinking what we needed. Too bad she didn't have that type of insight into eating in general! I wouldn't have had to un-learn eating TIMES and associations like evening snacks which were my family's 'happy' eating ones. (Who didn't like to munch on snack foods while watching TV?) Katcha IEing since March 2007 >The only time she showed me love was when I was sick and she'd make me food.
