Dear all~

I've been a member here for--oh, gosh, something like 3 or 4 years? I joined

while still living in Minneapolis, have moved back out west (where I belong!)

and wanted to drop in--again!--and reintroduce myself and say HELLO! I lurk

occasionally and see this joint's been jumping! And I'm glad to see that,

because IE is the way to go, the way back to " normal " eating and reacquainting

ourselves with Body Wisdom, eating the way children eat (responding to their

hunger/satiety cues), and generally freeing ourselves to enjoy our lives and

participate in far more interesting pastimes then counting calories, fat grams,

carbs, etc...I was a " serial dieter " for YEARS and started my first diet when I

was in adolescence and saw my developing body as FAT, rather than naturally

curvaceous and female. And so began a damaging pattern of restrictive eating,

crazy dieting, and self-loathing (not to mention cravings because I was

restricting my intake so profoundly). And then I discovered IE (years ago, with

Bob Schwartz's " Diets Don't Work " and the ORIGINAL " Thin Within " ) but really

wasn't ready to embrace the message, although I was intrigued....I still

believed starvation was the answer to thinness. And once I let go of THINNESS

being the objective and embraced my " natural " weight, it all made sense. The

book " Intuitive Eating " really solidified it for me. Very rational.

So I'm back, happy to see the activity, and wanted to say hello! And keep

honoring your beautiful bodies and your natural appetites! You'll be so glad you

did!

Cheers to you all,

Caitlin, MFA, CPC

Welcome (back) Catlin. Its great to have another LONG time non-dieter join us

here. Not only do you have experiences to share, you remind me that this is a

choice that supports one's life in ways that the (false!) promises of dieting

never could. Looking forward to your posts -

Katcha

IEing since March 2007
