Guest guest
, It's really hard to know. It *could* be die-off. Is anyone else in the house sick? You may have to just wait and see. If it's die-off, it will be temporary. Try epsom salts baths and make sure he stays hydrated. Patti, mom to Katera 1 wk on yogurt, fever, cough, & diarrhea - die off? has been on legal yogurt made from cow's half & half for a week now. We started slowly with 1/2 tsp but the last few days have increased up to about 2 Tbsp because we saw NO reaction at the lower amounts. Well today he has a slight cough, fever up to 101.0, and smelly, yellow diarrhea. Could this be die off after intro of yogurt or does it just sound like a virus. I appreciate your help! Guest guest
Thanks Patti, that is what I figured I should do but hoped someone just " knew " . So much less worry that way, you know. Would you continue the yogurt or hold off for a while? I appreciate all of you. C. - mom to , 3yo, PDD.Nos,(?)verbal apraxia, SCD 4mo and Hannah, 5yo, NT > , > It's really hard to know. Guest guest
, You are using COW yogurt. A large subgroup of our PDD/ASD kids cannot tolerate yogurt made from cow milk. We really recommend that you start out with GOAT yogurt if your child has milk sensitivity or has PDD/ASD. If it turns out that he cannot tolerate the yogurt, try GOAT yogurt instead. This sounds like die off but we never had this situation before. I would stop the yogurt or decrease the amount. I have heard that having fever with die off is a good sign that healing will soon take place but I do not want to take any chances. My best wishes are with you and your child. Guest guest
, Oh, how I wish we could " just know " . I assume he has no cow milk issues.... or hasn't in the past..... or you'd be avoiding cow dairy altogether. So..... if you are comfortable that it's not a cow dairy issue...... and unlikely to be an intolerance thing..... I'd personally suggest holding tight with where you are right now..... don't stop, but don't increase. I know Mimi suggested otherwise..... and I respect her opinion..... just giving mine. At the end of the day, you've got to go by your best instincts and make the call. In my mind, it just doesn't sound like intolerance..... with the slight fever, it sounds like just a coincidental viral thing going on..... OR die-off, and actually, this would be a very good sign, unless his symptoms become just completely intolerable.... then of course, you'd want to pull the yogurt and try again later, if you thought that was what triggered it. my 2 cents, Patti, Katera's mommy Re: 1 wk on yogurt, fever, cough, & diarrhea - die off? Guest guest
Mimi and Patti, Thanks for the advice. I do feel that ' only issues with the cow's milk products was lactose, which according to BTVC is almost non-existent in the legal cow's dairy products. I know he might not be able to tolerate it and will try goat at that point. Just don't want to make it harder than it has to be. We have gone through 24 hours now and I think he simply has a cold. The diarrhea may have been an unrelated reaction to something or could be from the excess sinus drainage into his tummy. Only time will tell. Thanks for all your support and caring advice.
