Guest guest
> How do you get your portions under control and maintain your weight without it looking like a diet? By allowing your body's INternal signals to determine when, what and how much you eat. Do you set up " guidelines? " The guide in IE is YOUR body, not any predetermined or 'set' dictates. Yes, most of us do begin with a 'diet mentality' which bases itself upon the premise that you can NOT trust yourself and must listen and follow EXternal 'experts'. IE is quite the opposite and the suggested practices (legalizing, mindful eating, body & emotion acceptance etc.) that have been developed are to help you return to the wisdom found within your own body. What this requires of you is being gentle with yourself as well as gifting yourself time add these changes (back) for yourself. > > I maintain a pretty constant weight, but I am 30 pounds over weight. I lost 10 on ww and have maintained it, but hated the hunger. One thing I found most interesting from the authors of Overcoming Overeating was asking " Who says?!? " when we find ourselves defending our hunger/body from outside dictates. Who says you are '30 pounds over weight'?!? Some faceless chart? Does it take into account your age, genetic type, ability to move easily? We are so NOT A NUMBER. The diet industry would have us constantly and forever chasing a carrot on a stick to line their pockets! As you add IE to your life, adding body acceptance, and yes love for it too, helps to erase 'number goals'. Hating the hunger is a very good sign - it is telling you that what you were doing is NOT pleasing to your body. As you give IE a chance to emerge for you, you will find that hunger is a 'tool' - to tell you when and what you need to eat as well as flagging you that something else (emotion) is coming up and eating, while an option, may not be the best way to deal with that. > > Help? You are here! Good first step and many more to come on your IE journey. Katcha IEing since March 2007 > > nne >
Guest guest
Thank you for your support! I want so much to move more (that feels good to me) and eat increasingly more healthy. And I want to stop loathing the age appropriate changes that are taking place in my body. Life is too short to walk around feeling bad about ourselves. I am so happy to be here! nne
