Thirst and hydration?

My mother always told me as I was growing up that our thirst mechanism does not

keep up with our bodies need. I have always found I need to make sure I drink

enough. Have those of you who have paid better attention to your body signals

found you have adequate signals to keep your body well hydrated?

Is this another one of those things that we learn to ignore?

It seems freeing to que in and quietly listen to the body and it's signals. I

am enjoying feeling more love for myself and this body that I was given to care

for.

One thing I found most interesting reading in the IE book was how some of our

'hunger' signals are really thirst requests by one's body. There is moisture in

foods, but its a much more inefficient way of getting the water we actually do

need. I had to find a way to help me increase my water intake as I tend to go

into 'camel' mode ;-) If you can tune into your body signals, I would love to

read your feedback too.

Best to you, Katcha

HI nne:

In my opiion (and this is only my opinion), I believe the thirst thing works in

the same way as intuitive eating. If my body tells me it's thirsty, I drink. I

dont drink because somebody told me to drink eight 8 ounce glasses of water

today.

I think our society is obsessed with " getting their water in. "

Like I mentioned before jokingly, can you picture the aborigines in the extreme

desert toting around their bottles of evian? C'mon, our bodies are so much more

intelligent than what " studies show. "

Sorry, I'm on my high horse tonight!

Welcome to the group, nne!

Love Deb

I remember this diet I tried a long time ago.. that was supposed to burn belly

fat.. the book said to drink quite a lot of water... I did this for a day or

two and felt very sick to my stomach .. and when water started coming out of

wrong.. places I knew it was too much. Now I drink when I am thirsty and eat

when I am hungry.. it can be hard to tell the difference sometimes but I am

getting better at it.

I DO think our bodies need water..just not as much as that diet book said

though.. LOL

When it is come to drinking. Since we all have various type of drink such juice, water, soda, tea, coffees, and many more. I believe when you feel full with drinks. Your body will tell you. For years I have problem with eating but never once have problem with drinks because I am completely in tones with drinks. Some days I drinks less than other days it is because I listen to my body when it come to thrist. I hear my body better with thrist than it is with hungry for foods which is one thing I am work on learning how to listen for foods.
