Hi Thea! When I first read your e-mail I thought it said you put BACON bits in your oatmeal!! And I thought ewwwwwwwww..but if she likes it go for it! then I realized you wrote pecan bits! Sounds so much better!

It's amazing the foods we limit and avoid because they are BAD. I avoided nuts for years too thinking they were bad (yes they are fatty but it's good fat). There are no bad foods in IE though. We can have pecan bits in our oatmeal. We can even have bacon bits in our oatmeal if that's what we like!! ;)

PS- I like pecan bits on salads. Yummy!

today I put some pecan bits on my oatmeal. what, you say? youintentionally added a food that is basically solidified oil to youroatmeal for no reason other than you thought it might be good?I thought I was over the forbidden foods thing, especially since Isure have been eating enough of them. (you don't even want to knowhow many bags of m & m's I have consumed in the last 6 months. whatevernumber you're currently thinking, double it.) but today when Ithought "you know what might be good in oatmeal? those pecans." myimmediately following thought was "What? No! We do not eat nuts! Nutsare bad!"now I wonder if I wasn't really over it, that I've been eating theseforbidden foods rebelliously, not because I was ultimately planning togo back on a diet, but more of a screw-you to all the diet influencesI've had my whole life. In fact I bought those pecans ages agobecause I was going to put

them in something that I could never workup the courage to make.anyway this was kind of a revelation to me today. nuts in oatmeal isreally tasty, by the way. I like oatmeal anyway but more so withsomething crunchy.thea

Good for you Thea!

You know, I think the authors of "Intuitive Eating" should have inserted a Screw You All Phase into their book. I definitely went through that phase, and think it is very therapuetic to go through that. Its a good way to show yourself that you CAN eat whatever you want, even if it may cause a little weight gain. You get to decide what goes into your body, not anyone else! You made a great discovery today!

:)

You are funny Kip! Now I am left wondering...why is it ok to put bacon bits OR pecan bits on salad, but not both on oatmeal? :) Bonnie
