Increased urine output is commonly reported by new SCDers..... but it seems

strange that this would just start at this point, since he's been on SCD for a

year. Anyway, when it has come up before, I believe it was something related to

detoxing. There is more to it than that..... but I can't recall at the moment.

You could search back through our archives for more posts on the subject....

or maybe some others can comment.

Has the weather been warm? Has he been drinking a lot more than usual? Does he

wake during the night to go that often, too? What makes you think he might have

been experiencing more die-off? Have you seen any other progress recently?

Sorry.... more questions than answers! :)

frequent urination

This has been discussed before BUT- My son is needing to urinate about every

30 minutes- I thought at first it might be die-off or something but it seems to

have been going on since May? yesterday at summer school his aide said he had

to use the restroom 8 times in the 2 1/2 hours he was at school? He doesn't

seem to be in pain and the urine doesn't have any unusal color or smell- Any

ideas why this is happening?

Sue -

You can get the WaterOz magnesium at www.herbalremedies.com. There

are many other places to buy it also. You can find them by doing a

search on the internet.

Right now, I am using the WaterOz calcium. The only thing I don't

like about this product is that I can't get information on how many

mg of calcium I am giving from the WaterOz people. The bottle says

to give 1/4 - 1/2 tsp. for a child, so that's what I give. With the

magnesium, I know I am giving the right amount because the symptoms

resolve. With the calcium, it makes me a little worried about

whether we're getting the right amount of calcium, so I may switch to

something else. Kirkman's has a hyperallergenic calcium that is SCD

legal.

Another note on the magnesium. It can be kind of tricky to get the

right amount. Too much magnesium can cause the same symptoms as too

little. Whenever I have tried to increase the amount of magnesium I

am giving to Zachary, or if I give him regular epsom baths, he will

almost always wet the bed. So, you might want to start with a 1/4

tsp. the first couple of nights and see if that resolves the issue

and then go up from there so that you can determine the right amount

for your child.

Good luck!
