Guest guest
Laymans rendition of the Lifestyle Center of America diet recommendation http://www.lifestylecenter.org 3-5 carb choices per meal 1-2 protein choices per meal 1-2 fat choices per meal 2 meals per day The Lifestyle Center told me that this is not the ADA diet, but it does use those units because they are familiar to many diabetics. Looking a little deeper Of those 3-5 carb choices, 2 of them are beans, which are mostly fiber. My one cup of beans per meal gives me only 8 gm of starch, and 1-2 gm of sugar. Of those 1-2 protein choices, 1 of them comes from the beans, and the rest from whatever non-animal source you like. They taught me a LOT of great tofu recopies Of those 1-2 fat choices, at least one of them comes from nuts. The rest can come from a nut gravy, nut butter, or whatever non-animal source you like. For breakfast, I make up the rest of my carb choices with berries. I may add tofu scrambled with onion and green pepper For lunch, I make up the rest of my carb choices with fresh veggies. Or I may have stir fry over rice. If I have supper, it is more beans (which I happen to love), more fresh veggies, and more nuts. Or stir fry over rice. Or a nice stew or soup. Or tofu kabob. Or a " meatloaf " made with meat analog. Now please tell me, anyone who is familiar with the ADA diet, is this just a renamed version of it? Or does it look like something else?
