Hi Everyone,

I am new to the group and have been reading the posts for a few weeks. I ordered

a few of the recommended books and they finally arrived today. I am looking

forward to reading them. My story is that I was an active person but overweight.

In 2005 I read Dr.Phil's book and removed 30lbs. I liked the way I looked and

felt but complained often because I wasn't at my goal weight. Over the past few

years I have gained back all the weight I worked so hard at removing. As much as

I would like it gone, I am having a major mental block at removing it yet again.

I tried on line programs and support groups, a new gym membership, walking a

marathon and purchasing a body bugg. None of it was successful. I knew I wasn't

interested in any diet books or diet programs and just doing it on my own wasn't

working either. Earlier this month my employer offered a free visit with the

nutritionist. He was very kind and listened well. Since I am active and

understand nutrition, much of what he shared wasn't new or helpful. The only

thing I walked out with was that I appeared to a " mindless " eater. I don't eat

large amounts of high calorie foods but lots of small handfuls. A few bites and

nibbles here and there on top of big meals is what I struggle with. I searched

the why's and how's of mindless eating and came across the IE approach. This

appeals to me because it seems like it puts me more in control and less

restrictions. I have issues with mind beatings of the " should of " , " could of "

and " why did you " that seem to be recorded in my head. I am thankful to of found

this group and that there is active conversations.
