question re in hospital meds

Hello I was wondering what they giv you for pain meds and how they give

them... Do they give you an epidural? is this the same thing as a spinal

that leaves you with the worst migrain headache of your life? I really need

to know before hand as I have a problem with meds given by way of an IV

line.

,

They started with a regular IV for me, but my veins stink, so once I was

knocked out, they put in a central line in my neck, and administered

Morphine via the " pump " . I'm one to hate taking anything for drugs, but

I'll tell ya, that morphine was quite and experience to click away with!

LOL!

I was given a morphine drip (PCA Pump) until I was about 3 days post op. Then

they gave me Roxicet Oral Solution (I liked that stuff! hehe). They gave the

morphine via a central line that they inserted while I was still under

anestesia. I didn't even feel a thing!

Good luck

-Morphine gave me really crazy dreams-quite an altered state of

reality, but good for the pain. Roxicet gave me the dry heaves and was more

trouble than it was worth. I went home after 4 days on Extra Strength

Tylenol with the pain pretty well controlled.
