Guest guest
Actually that is good question. Although what I have had done buy any foods whatever I want over many times. For example, past several months since I started this book. I bought a lot of junk foods such chips, candies, cookies, ice cream, corn hot dogs, frieds, chicken nuggets, and many others to the point I have already noticed the change in my eating habit turn to health foods and less pleasure junk foods as " forbidden foods " I have stop thought of those junk foods as forbidden foods about couple weeks ago and it works. Even though I still eat those junk food from time to time but not so much often as used to. Life's too short to worry about forbidden foods. Eat anything and enjoy them long as one do not think it being almost end of life. Foods are part of our life for however long it takes. Eliza > > Hi. Have a question for you guys about forbidden foods. I understand the concept a bit about something getting old and not having the pull if you eat it/have it around. But something occured to me. What if I have let's say mini-snickers around, and then I get sick of them, won't I just choose a different forbidden food next time and keep going and going from food to food? I mean there could be a million varieties or options. In other words, I can get sick of a food, but if I stay away from it for a bit, I will want it again eventually. SO i could just keep rotating forbidden or overeat triggering foods? Help me out with this one. > > Thanks in advance, > > Warrior >
Guest guest
The point isn't to get sick of them, but to instead honor yourself with permission to have them whenever your body feels like having them. In other words, if you are hungry and your body is crying out for a snickers, then have that. Your body may not want that at all the next time you are hungry. So, in my opinion, you aren't rotating forbidden foods because nothing is forbidden. However, there may be certain foods that you don't want anymore (I rarely have those store bought bear claws in my house because of what they represent to me from my binging days, not because I don't allow myself to have them. They have a negative vibe about them, and so I just choose not to have them around generally, but if my body cried out for one, I'd go & get it.) I hope that helps! Hi. Guest guest
I think we talk about " forbidden foods " is because these specific foods had power over us in some way. they made us feel oh so much better in the short term, taking some hurt away.... and then oh so much worse [about ourselves] afterwards, as we think about what we have done. and because of both the good feelings AND the bad feelings that come later, these foods came to be all powerful, and dangerous to have around. by having them around and letting yourself eat them when you want them, you realize that they are just food, not something with the power to heal or hurt us. once you get over that feeling with your most dangerous foods, or a selection of them, i think you realize that it's ALL " just " food. legalizing your most dangerous forbidden food, for me, made ALL food safe. so for me, as for several others, cookie dough was a forbidden food. just the act of buying it felt so strange, like " you're actually going to let yourself do this??? " then i ate it whenever i wanted for a while. it's appeal was partly the fact that it was forbidden! it's like i was an adolescent breaking the rules. but then after i while i finally, fully believed that i could have it whenever i wanted. so now i have it occasionally, maybe once or twice a week, and i've recently noticed that i am eating much less sugar overall. without trying. and there aren't ANY foods that scare me anymore! one cool thing about this for me is that i have discovered that it is SOOOOO COOOOL to be a person that " gets " to have fries with a burger. never mind the idea of ordering a burger without guilt! but i dont think i'd ever ordered fries in my life! (to be fair, i hated them as a child). these weren't really forbidden foods in that i never really thought about them, or craved them, except when others were eating them, but when i legalized cookie dough, i found out that i also " got " to have burgers and fries. delicious! The point isn't to get sick of them, but to instead honor yourself with permission to have them whenever your body feels like having them. Guest guest
Thanks, Eliza. So in other words, the more it's forbidden, the more you actually eat of it? That makes sense. Warrior > > > > Hi. Guest guest
Yes, it does help, , especially the way you describe the negative vibe. I can relate to that so I can understand what you mean.
