Guest guest
Thanks you so much. That REALLY helped to clarify my understanding of the situation. I got to go through EXTREME grief and stress in my life over the last 18 months and I know it has not been easy on my body adding all that. I will order some CORTEF right away. DO you know of a cheaper, but good source ? (Naturally, I will not be having a prescription.) ~inga on 11/6/04 11:29 AM, at marin@... wrote: Well, you're right in one sense, depending on the person's situation. For instance, if a person has low cortisol, too low, then they probably also have some hypoglycemia, low blood sugar, because cortisol causes certain chemical reactions happen to regulate all that, when it's working the way it should. On the other hand, if a person already had a high blood sugar because the insulin was unable to " put it in their cells " properly, even though there was a lot of insulin floating around out there (too much too soon, but with insensitive cellular receptors, I guess it could be a problem. BUUUTTTT, these are not pharmaceutical, pharmacological doses of cortisol, they are physiological doses, so, whatever production you already have would lessen according to what you are taking by mouth (let's say 10 to 20 mgs of Cortef only). This is what is meant by the idea of simply " resting the adrenals " for a period of time, with your P.O. dose, so that the adrenals can recover. That amt of Cortef will NOT " add to " , it will only help to rest the adrenals. Dosages, I believe, above the 30 mg mark are what's in question here, when it comes to other chemical changes, or sending the adrenals into add-on. The adrenals will rest to whatever degree that is added on, with the low dosages. The whopping doses they give for inflammation and such are the dangerous ones. That's why they say to taper the dose and don't have another regimen of it for awhile, or don't continue it. This is a whole different thing that even doctors seem to get confused about. Everyone considered it taboo to replace in anything less than 's Disease, before everyone knew differently. Re: CORTISONE=FAT > > Okay, So I read that cortisone increases blood sugar. Guest guest
Ingrid Have you done the saliva tests for the 4 different times a day? It would be good if you did this first to determine whether you really are low. ZRT Labs online is a good one to do this, without a prescription for it. I forget their web address, but someone else will know it. If you've already stated that you've had these, please forgive me, but I forget sometimes who said what already, lol! You could bring the results back here, and we could help you determine what they mean, if you want. I haven't had them yet, as I have to spend on the lab work so much of the time. Guest guest
Yeah lack of money is my problem too. Also lack of energy & strength to get all this stuff done. It's so much to learn & do.
