Guest guest
, My recent back pain is from a slipped disk/degenerative disk. Being hit by a car back in April seemed to be the 'final straw' before it all went haywire. My last vertebrae is sitting *ON* my tailbone. I'm afraid that bloodsugar levels won't do much for alleviating that whole bone-on-bone irritation Now, the nearly 1-2 hours of swimming and therapy I get in, along with the range-of-motion exercises to fix the muscle imbalances that developed when the spine shifted, are doing wonders. I've gone from screaming and crying when I sat upright to walking the mall in the course of about a month. SulaBlue --- In diabetes_int , Neon <jgd@j...> > Arthritis runs in the family. Maybe you should see what your numbers are like tomorrow without the 9g. Cheers Alan

If I stop taking the insulin, I still get lower BGs for about 3 days. When I resume it, it takes about 3 days to reach the former level. The same is true with me and metformin. Maybe my body likes a 3-day lag for everything. Gretchen
Guest guest
Sula, V8 juice sends my numbers flying like a kite on a windy day. Drank some Sunday and before I realized it I was nodding off, reading was like 185! Perhaps a combo of the pasta and the juice and depending on what you used for salad dressing, that may have played into the mix also. Basal insulin is wonderful. I just shoot in the morning and and good to go. Some days I dont even have to use any novolog to cover meals if I am really careful. Today isnt one of those days tho for some reason. I take my shot about 530 am and sometimes dont get a chance to eat til 10 or 1030 and usually dont have any problem. I try to eat at least a small bowl of cereal before leaving for work tho. or a piece of fruit. It seems to hold me for a long time tho so dont worry about not being able to eat at certain times as long as you use one of the long acting insulins. I take Glucovance x2 daily along with the lantus and novolog. I have also found out that I cant eat cinnamon raisisn bread -8( one small slice sent my reading to 150 this am. Guess hubby will end up eating that. Ruby

The thing is, that low carb means different things in different context. What is lo carb for Nutrisystems may not be so low carb for a diabetic. Bernstein has always preached that his low carb diet was different than Atkins. Clearly, there's a lot of overlap. It just means, I think, that you can't assume that every low carb item in Nutrisystems menu is safe. You just need to be prepared to test each one. Most of them are probably okay.
