Guest guest
Hi , Eating out can be challenging for newbies. Being in a restaurant has many triggers for ex-dieters. Becoming more capable of 'timing' your hunger, as well as PREparing yourself how you want to be (ordering, eating, etc.) when you are there helps too. And if you are aware of how food is associated with social aspects (love, sharing, caring etc.) you can know how you can be comfortable with responding if/when food is encouraged upon you when you are satisfied/not hungry. I think you did pretty well - awareness is a first step! You can now build upon this experience with more insight about how you would react the next time. Preparation and practice will get you there. Keep sharing and finding YOUR way as you go your IE journey. Katcha IEing since March 2007 > > Hello, > > It was going really well. I have been feeling numb and uncaring towards the idea of dieting, at least for the last three days. I even started putting diet books into a box for donation (I have many books on the subject) On Saturday, a friend and I went out for dinner. Most of the restaurants have a separate sheet for looking at calorie information but this particular restaurant listed the calories next to the item on the menu. Not to mention that the server next to our table decided to take the moment sitting there to tell everyone at her table what the " highest calorie item " was. I was able to tune her out but find that mentioning the word calories and finding calories on the menu has moved me to diet mentality thinking. All of a sudden I am fighting the urge to check the calories on other items too. Maybe if I listen to the Geneen Roth cd I just bought. I don't know where I am going with this post - I think that I just needed to rant. > > Thanks for listening. > > >
