Guest guest
Hello All, I'm new to the group and have been reading all the messages with great interest for the past 10 days. For me, the most troubling (and terrifying) part of dealing with rosacea is intensive blushing/reddening during pressure situations. Someone mentioned job interviews and big exams - also for me, speaking in front of a group. I also seem to be very sensitive to other peoples' opinions and when I feel like I'm revealing too much about myself, I am prone to reddening. It's so frustrating because its so irrational - I know what I'm talking about, I like my own personality, but yet this problem persists. In my job, I am expecting to have to do more face-to-face meetings and encounter more high-pressure situations such as presentations in front of groups, board room meetings, etc. Usually, in such situations I will get red patchiness on my face and neck and I find it so hard to concentrate on the task at hand b/c I'm totally self-conscious of what's happening to my appearance (I can feel the intense heat creeping up my neck and face). This is such a huge problem for me and it is really holding me back from realizing my career aspirations. A couple people have mentioned beta blockers as a way to deal with this. I have a few questions for the group: 1) How many of you experience these emotional/pressure situation flare-ups? 2) For those of you who have tried beta blockers, can you please give me more details on your prescription and experience. 3) After a course of photoderm light therapy, will this emotional flaring subside (I kind of doubt it b/c it is such a strong internal trigger)? 3) What other methods have people tried to deal with these " high-pressure flare-ups " ? 4) Do any of you experience blotchiness or a " shawl effect " on your throat and upper chest area in such high-pressure instances? All advice will be much appreciated - thanks in advance. Heidi
