Guest guest
Hey Sandi... I don't know if you've lost a great deal of weight in the past. I have a couple of times, and it seems like the rule of thumb is "last on, first off...first on, last off". What I mean is that if you are pear shaped, then your hips will still continue to hold weight. You'll lose off of your tummy and upper body FIRST. With time, and enough weight loss, the rest will equalize somewhat, depending upon how extreme the pear shape is. I was always a bit pear shaped, although I have broad shoulders and hips, and my waist goes in a bit...classic hourglass, only a BIG FREAKIN' hourglass. However, as between the "apple" and the "pear", I tend to be the later, because I gain weight all over. I think of an apple as the one who can look thin from behind, but turn them around and you see a big tummy. (My husband is an apple...albeit a crabapple, because he doesn't have much of a stomach.) In the past few years, because of both increased weight and increased stress in my life, I have more of a belly. So, i anticipate that will be the first to go. It usually is when I lose weight. Last on, first off. And then I'll lose the rest...and will probably be left with hips that are slightly larger than the rest of me. So, keep drippin' away. You'll probably find that the "last off" will be the disproportionate fat distributions on your hips!"Sandi H." wrote: I've been told by many friends and co-workers that my weight is just "melting" off me. I think that's funny because I feel like a melted candle, you know one of those where the dripping goes down to the bottom.I say this because my hips and tummy still seem big to me, but my chest and arms are much thinner. I feel more "pear" shaped than ever now. I know I will loose more weight and eventually become in better proportion, even if I need to have surgical help, but that expression sounds funny to me. :-)--Sandi H.
