Guest guest
K I'm definitely interested to see how your borage oil works out and for how long it keeps working. Keep us posted. Chris Borage Oil I wanted to know if anyone else is using Borage Oil. I saw it Friday while picking up some Vitamin E and thought I remembered seeing someone say they had used it. I don't know if this is true of all Borage Oil supplements, but my bottle says it has twice the amount of the gamma-linoleic acid as evening primrose oil. It's made by Sundown Herbals. I picked it up cause I'm afraid of taking the EPO due to the hormonal changes it can make. I started taking two of the Borage Oil supplements Friday evening and my skin actually looked really good Saturday morning. Just a slight pink and very smooth. And it stayed that way all day! My face actually looked normal with makeup. I'm not sure if this was a combination of that and a lot of sleep, but my face looked better than it has since the onset of this in September. I've been taking a lot of stuff that others on this list have recommended but have not had the same success with any of them. I started taking Oregano oil last week.. took it for four days and never noticed a difference. I took the Borage Oil Friday night and saw a big difference Saturday morning, but I'm thinking it could've been a latent effect of the oregano oil so I've stopped the oregano oil temporarily to see what's doing the trick. I know I should add one thing at a time but I'm frustrated and just glad to see something work. My face was a bit red when I woke up this morning but I think that's because I tried jojoba oil last night and had to take it off. The extra washing and Metrolotion applications irritated my skin a bit. Anyway, I'll keep you all posted on the Borage Oil. Guest guest
Hello Kristi, I posted a few weeks ago regarding fatty acids and Borage oil. I take oils made by Health from the Sun. They claim to have organic oils and I have been very satisfied with them. In my personal experience it took several months for my primary symptom of dry eyes to improve. When I decided to stop the oils after taking them for over five years, the dry eyes and other major eye problems appeared in about six months, so I would be surprised if you got an immediate response. I have also made it a point to eat lots and lots of tuna, salmon and sardines for the fatty acids etc. I have had several women friends, some twenty years younger than me, think I was a good ten to fifteen years younger than I am and they rushed off to buy borage oil!! I have also taken Twin Lab Super E Caps plus Selenium (400IU/200mcg) for over ten years, so that may also be a factor. Of course the rosacea related acne may make me look younger too. The rosacea stayed under pretty good control with occasionally outbreaks of bumps and decreased flushing while taking borage oil. By the way I grew up in Louisville, in the St s area, and am a grad of U of L.! Regards, Kate
Guest guest
Hi Cheryl, Thanks for your comments. I am so surprised that people don't know that the skin is a reflection of general health and internal conditions. I have worked in the alternative health field and studied the Edgar Cayce readings, Norman Shealy, Weil and others for years so this comes naturally for me. I have a foot in the traditional medical camp too, so I usually use the best of both worlds myself. Antibiotics, supplements and diet can all work together. Guest guest
has anyone taken this oil internally for over a month with success? what is it for? would it replace my usage of the evning primrose oil?? I also use flax seed oil and hemp seed oil.. thanks for the time and help, bye Mike
Guest guest
asked, " How many mg capsules are you taking and how many times a day? " I took 1000mg of Borage Oil, in one cap, once a day. I have now switched to a combo of flax/borage/and fish oil made also by Health from the Sun and take three per day, one at each meal. These caps are 1200mg each. The product is called The Total EFA and gives a good balance of Omega-3 and Omega-6. I paid about $26.00 for a two month supply of 180 caps. My ocular rosacea symptoms have begun to improve since I went back on the oils. I tried to open the Health from the Sun website(www.hfs.com) yesterday and it is not working, hopefully it will be up soon. You can reach them at 1- to request an information package. The oils are really worth trying, but do take up to three months to show improvement. Basically the oils influence the cell structure, wall and membrane etc. Regards, Kate
Guest guest
Kate Thanks for the info. $26 is a bit high for me to spend when I don't even know if it will work for me. I still have my $30 oregano oil sitting on my dresser mainly unused. I did see Borage Oil at a local health food store for around $10, so maybe I'll give it a shot. It will cost about $3.00 per week, but be sure to take it daily and give it at least three months.

Guest guest
Kate 3 months, huh? OK, maybe I can just take back the old Oregano oil to GNC for an even exchange. I am currently experimenting with the Total EFA, which works well for my skin but I think my dry eyes responded better to the Borage oil. Sorry about the web site for Health from the Sun. I don't know what happened there. You can order or request their information package at 1-. Kate

Guest guest
K How long before you first start seeing results in terms of skin moisturizing properties? Guest guest
Hello all, I continue to get repeat questions on Borage oil. I have many old post regarding Borage, you may want to go back and read these. I take Health from the Sun brand Borage and Total EFA. When I take Borage I take one 1000mg cap per day. With the EFA I take three per days with meals. It takes about three months to see results with both eyes and skin as the oil has to become incorporated into the cell membrane. This is not a quick fix but a gradual, systemic change at the cellular level. In my opinion there are no magic bullets for rosacea. The healing must come from the inside. Just because the skin shows the symtoms doesn't mean that the skin is where the problem begins or where the treatment is most needed. EFA= Essential Fatty Acids. The low fat diet fad of the last five years has caused many people to be low in the " good " fats that help to make the skin soft and supple. Essential Fatty Acids are necessary for healthy skin (including the face) and also for maintenance of eyes and nerves, as well as overall cellular integrity in the body. Borage Oil has an excellent EFA profile, as do Flax oil and Hemp oil. I have not researched which if any of these oils has the best EFA profile for humans, but I know that all three are good. Guest guest
I have also used borage oil for a number of months. I can definitely attribute relief of my ocular rosacea to it. I use HFS 1300mg. a day. I was recommended at least 500mg a day by my doctor. It just happened to be that she suffered from the same thing. The lining of my upper eyelid used to look red, swollen and dry. You know all the good stuff that comes from o. rosacea. I had to stop wearing contacts for a period of time. After regular usage I now wear contacts without a problem. The red, swollen area no longer looks like I have eyeliner. I am very pleased with the results. I also make sure to do warm compresses with a towel every night and morning when I wash my face. And as far as EFA, everything I have read tells me that the American diet is starving for them. I take 2 tbsp. of flax seed every day. It has helped with the overall look of my skin. I hope this helps. Now if I could just get rid of this red mask around my nose than I would be in heaven.
