Click here to view this email online (You will need to login to our online community on BigTent) Happy Tuesday, y'all! And it's time once again for Tricks, Tips and a Recipe. Today you'll learn a tip, a trick and you'll get a great recipe to try it out with. Isn't that great? Don' forget tomorrow is the radio show, Saving Dinner with the Dinner Diva! The show is on every Wednesday at noon EST. Bookmark this page and show up tomorrow - https:///www.blogtalkradio.com/saving-dinner You can call in LIVE with your questions - about food, cooking, nutrition, anything you can think of! If you can't listen live, you can always listen to the archives. Today's focus is on GARBANZOS And here's a TIP: Presoak some dried garbanzos overnight, rinse and cook in your crockpot (with appropriate amounts of water; read the package the garbanzos came in the first place). Then scoop up your garbanzos and place in freezer bags which in turn, go in (you guessed it, LOL!) the freezer! They’ll be ready and waiting when you’re ready for them! Here's today's TRICK: Next time you make a tossed green salad, add some cooked or canned (drained and rinsed) garbanzo beans for a nearly instant fiber and a protein lift as well! A half cup of this fine bean (aka as chick peas) has only 120 calories, 5 grams of protein and a whopping 8 grams of fiber! And your RECIPE: Leanne’s Favorite Hummus Recipe Serves 6-12 (nutrition info for 12) 1 (15-oz.) can garbanzo beans, drained OR 1 1/2 cups cooked garbanzos 2 cloves garlic, pressed 2 tablespoons lemon juice, use less lemon juice as your taste dictates 2 tablespoons tahini (this is sesame paste found in the ethnic section of your grocery store) sea salt to taste Whirl it all together in a food processor, salt to taste. That's all there is to it. Just make sure you process it well. This is one of those recipes you don't want big hunks in. COOKING NOTES: Serve as a dip with pita triangles, healthy chips or tortillas.
