<< I also wonder how much protein a day we are suppose to have. I weigh 233

now if that makes a difference. >>

Most of us need a minimum of 70 grams of protein a day to keep up with our

new digestive system and the malabsorbtion. There IS a website that helps

you figure out how much protein your body weight would require...but I'm

having a senior moment right now and can't remember where I saw that. Dee in

MI.

<< How can we possibly get 70 g of protein at 2-3 tbsp of fod per meal. I

think i am doing good to get 15-20. >>

When we first come home, that first couple of months, it is difficult to

get 70+ grams of protein because we usually eat just three or four TBS at a

time. I chose nonfat yogurt and nonfat cottage cheese often...two or three

TBS at a time. I also used tofu and yogurt to mix protein shakes. One shake

lasted me three or four meals and I just refrigerated it in a covered

container between meals.

Now, when I'm working, I carry a protein bar morning and afternoon. I drink

my protein shake in the morning and finish it by the time I park in the lot

at work. Sip, sip, sip! On the way home, I have one can of Glucerna OS by

Ensure which has less sugar in it than regular Ensure. Again...sip, sip,

sip! Lunch is usually veggies and/or some type of fruit and nonfat yogurt or

cottage cheese. I choose V8 or some other 100% juice for liquid. I have

access to hot water at work, so I take herbal teas which are immune

supporters and/or antitoxidants.

We just keep plugging away, kiddo! Dee in MI.

The FOY smoothies in chocolate have 23g (19g for vanilla) protein per

serving. That's what I was planning on using.

Thanks Dee! I just got a new juicer and haven't the

foggiest idea what to do with it. It didn't come with a

recipe book!!!

I found it in Walmart. You can also find the available stores on the

website foysmoothie.com.

It was on the top shelf, so it was easy to miss.
