Guest guest
, Despite the fact that they are " legal " , I would seriously consider not adding the pork skins back in..... at least not right now. There have been a couple of families here who've really struggled to make progress while including them. Of course, that's up to you. I'm not familiar with the Knudsen papaya nectar. I know the Knudsen " just juice " line is OK on SCD. Is that one of them? In terms of adding back foods..... I'd add one at a time, make sure veggies or fruits are peeled and cooked.... and choose ones that are easier to digest. For example, small peeled zucchini would be preferred over cabbage. Butternut squash is a good choice, too. Anyway, add one food you feel pretty " safe " with.... add a small amount, wait, watch and write (in a food journal.... anything you observe). Patti, mom to Katera Newbie - now what? Hi all, I just signed up on the list but I've been trying to follow SCD for about a month for my ds who is probably PDD. We have had him on feingold for the past 2 years +, went gfcf about a year ago and now I think he needs more. When I first started him w/SCD he did great, then he slipped back to his old problems and now since Tuesday he's been on the starter diet - nothing to eat since then except hard boiled eggs, chicken pancakes, chicken soup (made w/chicken, carrots and eggs) and hamburger patties. Today I gave him some gelatin I made w/Knudson Creamed Papaya nectar (grape juice is too high salycilate level for him). He's back to seeing the improvements I saw at first but now I'm not sure how quickly I can start adding in other legal foods. He especially would like to have his favorite SCD snack - pork skins w/cashew butter (almonds are also too high salycilate content for him). I'm sure someone asks this question just about every day so thanks for bearing with us newbies!! Guest guest
" Today I gave him some gelatin I made w/Knudson Creamed Papaya nectar " This juice is not legal. Here is a link to Knudsen's Just Juice list. http://www.knudsenjuices.com/products/just.asp Single-strength juices contain a pure burst of fruit flavor — with no added anything! >Just Black Cherry >Just Blueberry >Just Cranberry >Just Pomegranate >Organic Just Concord Grape >Organic Just Tart Cherry The other Knudsen's juices were not guaranteed to not have additional ingdredients. Guest guest
<<Grrr...I got this from another SCD mom who said it had been discussed here. K>> Hi , There was a lot of discussion about Knudsen juices.... and the final determination was that the " just juice " ones were legal..... but that the others are not. There might have been a lot of confusion at the time.... so maybe that parent was here during that, and just misunderstood. Sorry bout that. As well-meaning as other friends and SCD aquaintances may be.... it's probably always best to run things by this list and double check, if it's not made very clear in the book or on the website. I know it might seem like a huge hassle.... but if you can get fresh papayas, and you have a juicer, you could make your own..... if this is a juice that really agrees with him. Remember to dilute 50%. Patti
