Guest guest
have you ever had your night time cortisol levels tested with a saliva test? Mine were very high at night so I take Phosphatidyl serine at night. Do a google search and read about cortisol and ps. Need help with sleeping... 5 htp?? Good morning, I have the WORST problems with staying asleep and also with going to sleep. The main thing I use is Super Snooze with 3 mg of melatonin & other herbals. I take 2. Can go to sleep generally within 45 minutes with this.... However, I can't stay asleep for no more than 3-4 hours. Alot of time I'll take another sleep aid to sleep another 3-4 hours. I'm still awaiting my saliva tests, but am placing a vit. order this am and wanting to go ahead to get something Any suggestions? How about 5 htp? In an email for supplemental support it said to use this and up it to you're sleeping all night. Anyone tried 5 htp? How much do you take? Does it have any hang over effects? Last night I feel asleep without aid, but awoke in 2 1/2 hrs, took my Super Snooze then but slept only 2 more hours. I've been catching up on my emails from here since 3:30am. This is SOO frustrating because now I'm all achy, tired, with brain fog. Thanks, S.
Guest guest
Hi Cindi! Wow, looks like you are taking too much melatonin. Maybe it's not really 3 mg. Which brand is it? Is that 3 mcg and not 3 mg? I believe you need four mcg to = 1 mg. Don't take more than 3 mg a day! I also had a sleeping problem. From info in book Tired of Being Tired (pg 168) this is what I use: 1) 1 mg melatonin* - up 1 a week if still not working (max 3 mg). ***IMPORTANT - take 3 hrs after sunset, not at bedtime!*** 2) 100-200 mg phosphatidylserine (up to 200 after one week if not working) 3) 150 Valerian root. 4) 50 mg 5-HTP After taking ambien and sonata for months and not being able to sleep without I'm finally falling asleep! Started out falling asleep then waking 1-3 times. Now sleeping thru the night occasionally waking up. 17 days now. But I also upped my thyroid meds which is important to be on the right meds. She also recommends: 300 mg passion flower 300 mg hops 150 mg kava kava root or 100 mg 5-H GABA or 500 mg GABA or 100-200 mg 5-HTP (increase in one wk to 200) + 25 mg B6 > > Good morning, > > I have the WORST problems with staying asleep and also with going to > sleep. Guest guest
Thanks for your reply. I'll seek to get some of your suggestions. I'm taking 2 tablets of 3 mg of Melatonin in Super Snooze (also has calcium- 100 mg, magn-50mg, Valerian Root- 100 mg, Hops- 75 mg, Chamomile-75 mg, Passion Flower- 50 mg). But I still only sleep about 3 hours. So, I must be needing something else. I don't think that's too much melatonin. By the way... this is S. (not Cindi). Sometimes this gets to be confusing and it doesn't really matter. Cindi seems so nice and supportive on this website. I don't mind being confused with her. Guest guest
actually the mcg is a metric unit, so: 1mg = 1000mcg b > Hi Cindi! > > Wow, looks like you are taking too much melatonin.
