Rita,

If the Metrolotion is causing your face to get redder and you

start breaking out stop using it. Alot of us in the group seem to tolerate

Noritate better. I know that it helps me. The base ingredients in the Metros

can be irritating for some.

You could also try a zinc oxide ointment after applying Noritate.

Zinc Oxide is great for reducing the redness and helps heal the bumps. The

zinc oxide ointment that I use has zinc oxide, mineral oil, white wax, and

petrolatum in it. Most drugstores carry their own brand that contain the same

ingredients. Try some in a small area for a few days to see how your skin

reacts to it.

There are also zinc oxide compounds that have dimethicone in them

that you can order from a compounding pharmacy. You don't need a prescription

for the zinc oxide compound. I have ordered some from Custom Prescriptions in

Ohio. 1-. The pharmacist is Glenn and he is really helpful.

Dr Sy is also developing a zinc cream that should be available

soon. You can look up her skin care products at www.lindasy.com

Howdy, and welcome.

Go look on the geocities site -- there are some questions there you

may want to ask your surgeon... Probly some you haven't thought of.

best advice: inform yourself about what is ahead, and remember that

it is generally more frightening in the anticipation than in the

reality.

Ask away, if you have questions, and someone here will probably offer

an answer.

Welcome. I had surgery on July 22, and as of September 22 my

unofficial weight has gone from 361.5 to 309. That's over 50 pounds

in 2 months. I live in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia and I feel

great. I too feel that it doesn't really matter what the total

weight loss is, but I am happier that I am going in the right

direction! I feel better than I have felt in years! Keep up with

the hard work. God bless you.

Starting with the " Intro " diet is best. Refer to the www.pecanbread.com website.

Some parents have chosen to " ease into " the diet..... and go back to intro later

to " clear the decks " , so to speak. Just because cow dairy is allowed on SCD

doesn't mean you *have* to use it. Many stay dairy free. However, the yogurt is

an important healing element..... so many ASD families use goat milk to make SCD

yogurt. Again, the website has lots of information about that.

Yes.... you can make your own almond milk. In fact, you can make the SCD yogurt

from nut milk, too.

LOTS of kids on SCD started out as picky eaters..... and " miraculously " branched

out into eating things their parents NEVER thought they would eat. You'll be

surprised! The website has some great tips for picky eaters.

Gook luck!

Hello Everyone,

I am new to the group & am finally decided to try the diet. I am asking for

any help I can get on recipes. I also need a list of staples to buy. How to I

start the diet cold turkey or gradually. I am hoping that someone out there can

guide us. I believe that my son Ben at 30 months of age can benefit from this

diet as he had chronic diaherra for over one year & my pediatrician brushed it

off as toddlers diareahha.

My main concern is the reintroduction of the dairy into the diet , as per the

DAN protocaol is ot a NOT permited. Ben likes his bottle, may a substitute the

rice milk to almond homemade milk?

Also there may be some parents out there that a had a very limited eater ( ex

French fries, pasta , rice bread,) how to we do it on a diet with little starch

& & picky eaters. I feel that maybe Ben will go on a hunger strike.

On last question, for our kids that have gut issues primarily yeast & bacteria

, how long does the diet have to be followed for the gut to heal of a child of

30 months of age. Perhaps a bettter question would be will he be on this diet

all of his life?

Thank you for your support & concern

Best Regards.

Thanks for the information Patty.

Again the almond milk should it be purcahsed or home made ? I know that the

company Lundburg makes almond milk but my concern is the stuff that they add

such as vanilla, vitamin A & D, calciums & sugars. If I will put Benny on this

diet < I really feel that all efforts be made that I donnot make any errors on

this diet & that only polsaccarides are given.

Thanks

Hi everyone! My name is Crystal and I live in Kalamazoo, MI. I tried intuitive eating several years ago, but wandered away and began 'diet' mode. After many turns of events, I'm back to practicing intuitive eating, and although it feels right and well, it's difficult some days. Well... I am only on day 2. When does feeling hunger and full signals improve? When have other people found peace with food and stopped having to have 'food fads'?I'm so thankful for this forum! I'm looking forward to hearing others' experiences.Crystal

Crystal, yes INternal signals for hunger do re-surface and become the driver of

eating in my experience. Its when my head takes over and I start to 'think'

eating instead of feeling it that I find I am off track. The good news is that

1) not beating myself up over this and 2) continuing on regardless of how 'well'

I am doing with it has helped me to 'get' it anyway.

BEST to you and glad to have you here too. IE is a blessing for a life time of

pleasurable eating :)

First - congrats on your TRUE (to yourself) eating experience! It really is

astonishing how little one needs to eat to be satisfied and ready to say OK,

that's enough. Setting your own limits sounds like a cross between fantasy and

bad idea when we first start, but its just what you need and find you can do

too.

Weight related thoughts are soooo deeply ingrained that they just do not go away

at one's command (oh darn!). But be assured that they lessen and become more a

driving force as you get IE elements working for you. There's a suggested 'thin

fantasy' exercise in Overcoming Overeating that helps one re-think exactly what

your needs really are as well as what 'magic' you have granted to the concept of

'thin'. I remember reading how many of the people doing this realized that most

of what they thought they were seeking wasn't even what they really wanted!

Do YOU want to lose weight and for what reasons? Or is that thought more of a

'should' that you are trying to satisfy? And what difference - if any would less

weight be for you? And of course there is the big WHO SAYS? that X weight is

'right' for you?

Answering these questions for yourself can be not only enlightening, it can also

help you fight off diet mentality when it comes a-knockin' ;-)

> Hi Crystal, I too am new to IE, still reading the book! I have had the exact

same feelings as you, I was never really physically hungry, only mentally for a

long time. If I did feel any hunger pangs while in the " diet mode " I would

normally just overeat so as not to experience that. Just the last couple of days

I am beginning to relate to how I actually feel. I was doing some heavy cleaning

this morning and all of a sudden felt hungry (for real) about 10 am and wanted

onion dip and crackers, so I made some and found that I really only wanted a few

and did not overeat. Wow, what a novelty! Like you I hope it becomes easier as

time goes on. I am been working really hard at not feeling guilty or even

concerned with what I eat, just trying to get the hang of it.

>

> Maybe someone with more experience can answer this: Even though I feel I am

doing pretty well, I still want to lose a few pounds, and have to get over

thinking about that right now, so I can do the basics first.
