Guest guest
A while back there were some posts about getting help w/airfare for medical purposes. My neuro here in Oklahoma has decided that she needs to send me somewhere where they have had more cases of Chiari. She is very knowledgeable, but I don't follow the " books " so to say. I had decompression and removal of C1 in May 2000. I have since degressed and continue to very rapidly. If I continue at the rate I am going I will be wheelchair bound quickly. I am 33 as of yesterday and have 2 children. I just feel like something can be done to help except to continue to increase pain meds, etc. She was wanting to send me to the Neurologists that were on the Dateline program, because she felt that they probably have had a lot of experience w/ a variety of patients. From reading the posts it sounds like Dr. Milhorat from NY has had a lot of experience, he may be better. Anyway if anybody can remember the info about the airfare help or have any suggestions about a good neuro to see please post. Some of my current symptoms are when she checks my reflexes besides being WAY hypersensitive.... When she taps the right elbow my left foot will bounce. Everything crosses over and I have severe ankle clonus, so bad I can hardly walk. My legs hurt terribly as well as my back. I get sharp pains in my bones all over and I feel nauseous a lot. That may be from the meds but that is something I have had trouble w/before the meds. She thinks my brain has rewired itself because I went so long before surgery and my neurosurgeon said my brain was not pulsating at all when he opened me up. It was so tight.... Anyway I know you don't want to hear all the moans and groans, so any help on the airfare situation and a good neuro would help. Thanks!
