Guest guest
Hey Jen, I read your posts, I've been a bit busy, but I just wanted to wish you all the best in your healing. It's tough to be thrust into this without warning (of course, it's also tought to be a patient-in- waiting for someone to break your jaws). I'm really glad you found this group. Hang in there, it gets better day by day by week by month. I'm 7.5 months post-op myself. The more fluids you can pump in, the better. When you're ready for soft stuff, try corned beef blended with some chicken broth (preferably homemade) and butter - it tastes awesome! We also blended up rotisserie chickens from the grocery store - first night it's a soup that looks like concrete slurry, next night it's like chicken pate. Yummy! I hope that didn't make you hungry... > : > > You are so kind to offer, but I will have my husband place an overnight order tomorrow morning. We'll probably get them quicker, and you won't have to go through the expense of shipping. Thank you, thank you -- just the offer itself brightened my day. > > I got up and out of the house for a couple of hours today. It helped, although it made me exhausted and brought my pain level up again. But, maybe as I get moving a little more, my appetite will increase and I'll get to the point where I'll eat just about anything. > > We picked up some protein powder, and some metamucil, to mix in with all my Ensure stuff, and picked up some carrots for juicing, etc. I w-i-l-l get through this! > > And you, everyone I've heard from on this board, have already been such a boost to my morale already. > > Thanks again, > > Jen
Guest guest
: I'm hanging in there! Today was the first day after my surgery Thursday, that I felt like I just might pull through this. I took ' advice and went out and sought some beef-type brothy soup, and it actually tasted good! Can't say that I'm still not fighting a bit of nausea, but maybe it's the codeine pain-killer. I'll talk to the doc tomorrow when I see him. I have absolutely no idea when I'll be able to eat soft foods -- my jaws are wired shut for the next month. And I have no idea what the next steps are after that. I must say, after reading many of these posts, you all are an amazing group of people. So much support and encouragement for everyone, from everyone. I am pleasantly stunned by everyone's courage and compassion. I can't say I know what you have all been through leading up to the decisions you made to pursue this type of surgery, but I'm sure it was a decision not made lightly. I just wanted to say how much I admire you guys and this support group. And in case I forget to mention it in the future, I wish everyone the best of luck in their surgeries and recoveries -- wherever you are on this arduous road. Big warm hugs to all, Jen
