Guest guest
Deneesa, Without knowing your situation, our daughter had stomach issues the first months of the diet. We tried zantac which did not help. We added digestive enzymes and that improved the situation tremendously, making the diet tolerable. Later we limited her dairy intake and that helped too. Rhonda My daugher is on Zantac for stomach problems; Reflux (she is 18 months) has been ruled out; We are wondering if it could be her seizure meds (Dilantin); She was on Lamictal also when the problem started but since has been taken off this medication; Any insight???Please help!!!! deneesa, Hannah's mommy
Guest guest
Just about everybody gets reflux on the diet. How did you rule it out? Constipation is also very common and can cause upset stomach and seizures. I don't like medications, so I used other things to get reflux under control. Guest guest
Deneesa, What kind of stomach problems? Is this just since starting the diet? Kids on the keto diet at higher ratios have a greater risk of acid reflux symptoms. Our clinic told me that almost all their Keto kids end up on Prilosec. They say Zantac is rarely effective. Katera was on Prilosec for a while but I chose to take her off of it...... those acid-blocking drugs actually impair the digestive process because the stomach acid is needed to break foods down for proper absorbtion. I put Katera on digestive enzymes instead of the Prilosec and she was much better after that..... but the symptoms were also much relieved by a slight ratio drop. Patti, mom to Katera (age 6), former Keto kid for 2 yrs, 3 months. ----- Original Message ----- From: deneesad@...
