Judy,

Thanks for the data on UTI strips. Are they used only if one uses a cath,or can they be used without? I am not using a cath but frequently feel a UTI is "coming on." I was prone to having UTIs some years ago and now want to do all I can to avoid any infection. What about a low level antibiotic a a preventative? Has your patient ever been on one?

What part of the country are you from? I know teh name Mears in Va.

Barbara:

I found the UTI strips to be extremely reliable for Ken. Whenever we saw a

pink one, we followed it up with a lab test and we were never wrong. A couple of

times he had some kind of infection, but the strip did not turn pink. We took

him to ER, and he was found to have pneumonia and no UTI. I have even used it

to diagnose a UTI in a very early stage on myself. I would highly reccomend

them.

I have been seeing a lot about uti strips, had not heard of them. Asked nurse, she hadn't heard of them either. So, my question where do you get them and do you have to have a prescription? Thanks, Ginger

Thanks, I will check around today and see if I can find some.

Re: uti strips

Virginia: You can get them from a pharmacy like Rite Aid or Fred Meyer without a prescription, but they may have to order them. Remember to ask for the Chem 2 strips because that is all one needs. Judy Virginia Willmann wrote:
