Guest guest
Yes - yet another example of following external rules instead of internal signals. Judi > > http://ca.lifestyle.yahoo.com/health-fitness/articles/family-health/rogers-macle\ ans/enough-with-drinking-water-2009-09-01/1 > > This is a rather interesting article about water consumption. Maybe we don't need to drink as much water as we thought! It really is all about listening to your body and doing what's right for you at the time! I used to be obsessed with getting enough water in everyday when I was dieting so I could check them off on my Weight Watchers journal. But now I'm kind of an intuitive drinker. Most days I do still drink a lot of water because I enjoy it but I don't stress if I have days where I'm not thirsty. And I drink more in the summer than I do in the winter. > > > __________________________________________________________________ > Connect with friends from any web browser - no download required. Guest guest
Good input for thought Kip It shows that 'one size doesn't fit all' even in the water drinking department! I know that when I drink plain water, I get 'drier'. It seems that my kidneys end up taking electrolytes from my body when too much water is passed thru me. I actually need a little bit of salt sometimes to re-hydrate so I can sleep comfortably. Other wise my nasal passages and mouth are uncomfortably dry feeling. I do know that drinking water helps keep my going when I am doing 'hard' work outdoors. I read that the first team to get to the summit of Everest did so because they drank water (which the other teams hadn't). So I learned that hydrating myself while working did help with my outdoor work. Yet when I am indoors and doing something like sewing, a small bottle of water sipped as I go is enough. And what I then have to watch myself for is to actually eat as I tend to focus and push on when I am doing a project. I too often catch myself getting light headed and irritated, usually just as I want to finish up. Thanks for sharing and reminding me that INternal information beats EXternal 'standards' every time :) Ehugs, Katcha IEing since March 2007 > > http://ca.lifestyle.yahoo.com/health-fitness/articles/family-health/rogers-macle\ ans/enough-with-drinking-water-2009-09-01/1 > > This is a rather interesting article about water consumption. Guest guest
Thanks for sharing this article. It's great validation for an intuitive way of responding to our bodily needs. I've never been able to drink 8 glasses a day comfortably. So, I gave up on that " rule " years ago! > > http://ca.lifestyle.yahoo.com/health-fitness/articles/family-health/rogers-macle\ ans/enough-with-drinking-water-2009-09-01/1 Most days I do still drink a lot of water because I enjoy it but I don't stress if I have days where I'm not thirsty. And I drink more in the summer than I do in the winter. Guest guest
I tried to reply to this earlier but yahoo seems to be doing wacky things lately. I had a really funny response to this and of course the moment has now passed. But anyway, here is what I remember from trying to post earlier: I totally agree that we need to let our bodies tell us when we need a drink. The ONLY time I've ever drank 8 glasses of water a day is when I was DIETING. It reminds me of the book Mutant Message Down Under. Can you imagine the aborigines lugging their Brita pitchers around?
