Guest guest Posted August 13, 2009 Report Share Posted August 13, 2009 Hubby and I go to 'the big city' (ha ha) for a day of shopping and eating out too. We generally get up early anyway, and leave early too as it can be a long day for us. While we do eat something before we go, we both seem to want to 'save' our hunger for our treat meal - about 1-2PM-ish. Needless to say we have found ourselves over hungry and snappish before which can put a damper on the day, not to speak about making shopping tense instead of fun. I've thought of, and taken apples and other easy-to-eat things but none of these worked well for me. Then bingo! it occurred to me that what I wanted mid morning was something protein to help carry me. I bought a package of beef jerky - gnashed a few pieces and it did the trick. I still enjoyed my meal, and didn't overeat as I might have if I had been soooooo hungry. Its amazing how just so little as a few pieces of jerky not only satisfied me, it returned my thinking to tasks at hand instead of being constantly distracted by hunger/headache.
