Guest guest
I've responded to the hair question before, so here it goes again. I already had short hair to begin with, so for those of you with long hair, I understand the question. When I was 13 I had to have the entire back side of my head shaved. Ever since, I have been sensitive about my hair. Last year I decided to go from long to short. My hair is cut with the top layers about 4 " long, with the sides and back shorter, and tapered. The length of the hair at the crown is about 4 " . (Kind of like Sharon Stone, or Delta Burke's short hair.) The nape is short, about 1 1/2 " . When my head was shaved, my surgeon shaved from the nape up, leaving the long layers undisturbed. He shaved up to the top of the ear level, from ear to ear. Since its winter, turtlenecks have covered the scar on my neck, And kept the neck warm! Its now one month after surgery, and my head looks normal. I am blessed with thick hair, so it has covered my " zipper " . To keep my scalp from itching in the hospital I used Biore facial cleaning clothes. These at least kept the excess oil off my scalp, and kept it from itching (I have very oily hair). I was able to wash my hair after the staples were removed, which for me was at 5 days post op. I washed my hair when I got home. I used a hand held shower attachment, sat on a tub bench, and that's how I did my bathing for the next few weeks. I decided not to do stairs for awhile, our stairs are an open iron spiral. Great looking, but not too pratical if your head and neck hurt, and you can't look down to watch your feet, and your dizzy because you feeling the meds....Luckily we have a full bath downstairs. I lived on our futon for the month. This week we took the living room back, and I am now able to do the stairs. Hope this helps those who asked...
