Well good for you--you obviously work for private industry. I work for government and even if I changed my insurance right now, it goes into effect 1/1/2005. Having been waiting for two years, I'm sure you must be pretty well prepared so I hope this works our perfect for you. Wouldn't that be an awesome Valentine's present in lieu of a box of chocolates!Laurie wrote:

Thanks for the wishes, Chris. Yes, I know it is part my pCP, but itis also part kaiser. If I were approved today, I would still belooking at a long wait. What's going on now? I spoke with my boss at 7am about changing toour bcbs group insurance at work. She's submitting the paperwork. At9:30 I called the surgical group that does the RNY at the hospital Iwork for. Five minutes later I had my consults set up, all except thesurgeon. My appointments are next week. I've been advised I couldhave surgery as soon as Jan, but I already promised my boss I wouldwait until Feb, after the holidays and part of the busy season. Ihave a few pre op classes, and I have to lose twelve lbs. I AM

I think that Kaiser is a little more reluctant to pay for the surgery than

are some of the other health care providers. As well some of the pcp's are

opposed to it, if not on medical grounds then on philosophical grounds. I

know that mine is opposed on philosophical grounds, because he told me so,

but he referred me out anyway and has been cooperative and supportive

throughout the whole thing so far, ordering tests quickly that my surgeon

wants and so forth. LaWanda At 12:54 PM 11/4/04, you wrote:

Hi Laurie,

Sure looks like switching insurances is the way for you to go. After

spending so long trying to get through Kaisr's process, I can certainly

understand your frustration.

I am sure that you already know this . . . but I need to say it. Even

though you have your surgery somewhere else, please stick around here.

I look forward to hearing your progress on this journey.

Take care,
