Guest guest
Absolutely. What you're going through is NORMAL! I and most others have gone through that. The Intuitive Eating book recognizes that thinking about IE and food alot is a part of the beginning phases of the process. This type of transformation requires a certain level of " awareness " or we would just fall back into our fixated pattern and past relationship with food. It takes time. > So for those with more IE experience, did you go through the same thing as me? Did your thoughts about food and IE eventually start decreasing over time? >
Guest guest
Yes, I did. I think that's normal. It's such a big change in perspective, I think it takes a while before it's your natural perspective. I've been doing it for 3 years, and I've just now made big breakthroughs on it. Peace, Sara > > Hey guys. Since I've restarted IE almost a month ago, it seems that all I ever think about is IE. It's hard to put my focus else where. I guess it's really not that different because when I was dieting all I ever thought about was food, but I'd really like to get away from that. I want to have NORMAL thoughts. I am thinking that this will happen over time. Since IE is so new right now, naturally it's going to take up a lot of my thoughts. So for those with more IE experience, did you go through the same thing as me? Guest guest
Sara,Thank you so much for your post. I started IE a little over a year ago and I was doing well with it and my weight even went down a little. Then I had a life crisis where my favorite cat in the whole world got sick last August and died in June and I backslid through the whole thing and am at my top weight now. I know it's not about weight but I it's hard to not focus on the weight.Anyhow, I'm so glad that it's normal to take a while for it to really be absorbed and to have success. I tend to think that I'm supposed to "get" something right away and then when I don't, I tend to think that I've failed. But it makes sense that it would be gradual. I didn't become a compulsive eater overnight and it makes sense that it would take a while to unbecome one :)Sharon Subject: Re: Thinking about food and IE all the timeTo: IntuitiveEating_Support Date: Sunday, August 23, 2009, 12:31 PM Yes, I did. Guest guest
Sharon, I had no idea when I started that my path would be so long and convoluted, either! It's all been worth it, though. And I have a lot more path to go. Sara > > > > > > Hey guys. Since I've restarted IE almost a month ago, it seems that all I ever think about is IE. It's hard to put my focus else where. Guest guest
They say when you start to change something, it's swings like a pendulum on a grandfather clock. You go from on end of the spectru, way over to the other and then it will swing less when it comes back and so on. Eventually you get more in balance. I have not really come close the that balance yet, but I'm on my way there with you. ;-) KT > > Hey guys. Since I've restarted IE almost a month ago, it seems that all I ever think about is IE. Guest guest
You know, I totally relate to that about thinking I have to do it so well. I think it's my way of not having to do it, I mess up my chances of it working by acting like it has to be perfect. KT > > > > > > Hey guys. Guest guest
Sharon, I had those same thoughts...thinking I was supposed to 'get it' right away. And sometimes I get a little down on myself for what I feel is 'sliding backwards.' It's really comforting to know that I'm not alone in these feelings. > > > > > > Hey guys.
