I was not picking on Chip.

I just wanted to let others know about this. Granted, what works for one may

not work for others. I would like others to know that there are alternatives

out there.

Insurance companies don't always/usually pay for too many Massage therapy

visits. But, you can get them to pay for chiropractic treatment much more

often.

My thinking is that if small tissue adjustments are less pressure than

massage therapy; go for what is less pressure/invasive.

As for pressure problems; granted I was just starting to get what I would

call the Chiari pressure h/a's right before surgery. But, afterwards, I had

such bad pressure that it blew a hole in my medulla. Considering that they

could only find this happening in one other case, I would say that my

pressure was bad.

Add to that the fact that at 6 months of age I had to be fed thru an IV

because I wouldn't/couldn't eat -- well, chiari has definitely been a problem

since day one.

Back to the chiro stuff -- I wrote that because Chip said he went for back

pain and if others want to try it for back pain; well, I feel that they would

be safer going to a chiro who does small tissue adjustments.

Anytime that someone asks about going to a chiro, I recommend this type of

treatment as opposed to the regular chiro adjustments.

And I have gone for massage therapy. One time my regular therapist wasn't

there, so another therapy worked on me. Nsg had ordered light traction and

massage -- traction was done by massage. Well, my 2 shunts are connected

right in the middle of my neck, and I felt like he had moved them. It wasn't

too painful; but, it really felt weird. Point is, you have to be careful no

matter what type of treatment you are getting.

For those who totally hate chiro care: think of the type I go to as the

lesser of two evils. LOL Heck, I smoke; but, am always telling those who

smoke Menthol to switch to non-menthol. Once I switched, I quit getting

bronchitis.

Like I said, what works for one may not be best for others. And like I have

mentioned before; I do have the added problem of arthritis. My shoulders

freeze up pretty good. Therapist really couldn't even give me exercises to

do at first, she had to work at getting me somewhat unfrozen. That's what I

have to work for now on my own. Not to have lots of strength; but, to keep

everything moving.

Sorry so long.

And please realize that I didn't mean to sound as if I was picking on Chip or

anyone else. I already feel like his nickname should be Rodney Dangerfield.

Have a Happy New Year

Peace and grace

Tina in Pgh.
