Guest guest
Hi all, I went on Digest, so it is harder to reply to individual posts. I think I'll just do a cut & paste and reply thing here. Re: organic eggs/eggbeaters It is not just organic eggs you should look for (organic is a term very loosely and often incorrectly applied). Organic only means that the animal is not fed poisons....duh OK, and I include prosthetic antibiotics and hormones in the poison category. The eggs that contain more omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids are from pastured poultry or free-range poultry. The meat also contains less fat, and cholesterol, and more vitamins than USDA standards (source: http://www.sare.org/projects/san_db_viewer.asp?id=1474 ) I say poultry instead of chickens because I raise chickens, ducks, and guinneas and eat eggs from all of them. It is the green grass the animals eat that causes the improvement in fatty acids. The same holds true for any animal that is fed mainly a fresh pasture diet...goats, sheep, or beef...just so long as they are not primarily grain fed or hay fed. There has been lots of good research on this lately. To find eggs from free-range or pastured poultry check your local farmers' market. You should be able to find a farmer there as it is becoming very " fashionable. " You'll never want store-bought eggs again after trying farm-fresh eggs...they are so much better, but probably not yet good enough for Jean! BTW, I'd be surprised if egg-beaters have any egg in them at all, I think they are totally chemicals. They sure taste that way! RE: chicken liver >OOOOOH YEAH, wrap them with bacon and grill! Marty< Super wonderful...especially if you poke a sliver of water chestnut into the liver before you wrap it. Gives a nice crunch. I used to marinate them in soy sauce before grilling, but now I dilute the soy with wine and water first. RE: Becca Whooo-ooooh(wolf-whistle) >wouldn't keep his hands off me today when we went bday shopping... Becca< Yeah, you gotta watch this WOE. There is something about it that really boosts your sex appeal....the affect is way out of proportion to the amount of weight you lose....its happened every time I lost weight this way........not a bad thing......my husband swears that protien is an aphrodesiac....he may have something there. Unfortunately, I think that [the sex appeal booster] has a lot to do with me gaining it back. I have problems coping with the attention (never learned how as a fat adolescent/young adult). I get very uncomfortable with the remarks, whistles, stares, and the jerks in general that I seem to attract. At first works as a moral booster, but then as I lose more, and I attract more and more attention, I get real uneasy. I think I start eating wrong at about that point as a means of self-defense! Won't happen this time...I have a wonderful husband (big guy, too) and I know with him around the jerks WILL lay off! RE: Kirstie's loss >virgin weight< Love that term....but I don't think I have any of that! RE: Laurie's pizza scrapings I do that too, my co-workers stopped taking me with them to pizza buffets because they were embarrased by the " pizza carcasses " left on my plate! LOL RE: Jenna's Menu >1 ounce of half & half< Sounds like 1/2 milk, 1/2 cream right? NOT. half & half is skimmed milk with some of the water removed and replaced with CORN SYRUP!!!!!!!!! I'm not kidding! Use heavy whipping cream. It tastes better anyway. Sydne Spencer
