Dear Rhonda,

I evidently skimmed over this when it originally appeared and thought I must

have mis-read it. Didn't go back to really check it out. You are so right.

And now I am completely confused and befuddled too.

rheumatic Dr. Mercola's success without antibiotics

Hello group:

I'm just curious as to what everyone thinks about Dr. Mercola's

announcement (posted by someone in the group a few days ago) that he is now

able to treat RA successfully without using antibiotics. I haven't seen any

comment about it.

Following is part of the post:

antibiotics.

I may be wrong, but I take this to mean that he doesn't use the AP with

newly diagnosed RA, but he will use it if he deems it necessary.

Just my opinion,

about dr mercola's words on not needing the antibiotic protocal. i

think EFT technique and the metabolic typing diet are GREAT

compliments to the AP. they both support bringing the body into a

better state to fight infection. BUT everyone is different and is at

a different state healthwise. for me...my arms are not strong enough

to do the EFT techniques yet. but with the antibiotics i will get

there. each case is different and needs a combo of different things,

however, the metabolic typing diet and the EFT are underestimated (i

think). hope everyone is having a great day.

While I believe prayer can cure people and while I believe some people can

will their bodies well, I have never seen an infection dissapppear without

antibiotics so I am skeptical. a good site to see more of Dr. Mercola's type of

Just some " armchair " theorizing here--I think this is *all* about the

immune system. Antibiotics fight infection. Other treatments, such as

the ones used by Dr. Mercola or the ones used by homeopaths, help the

body use its own resources to fight infection. So does a healthy

diet. So do supplements and exercise.

I agree that for many the non-antibiotic treatments may not be

enough. The same can be said about pneumonia--I'm glad the

antibiotics are available as well.

Hi everyone:

I thought I would stop lurking and add my comments.

I am the patient that Dr. Mercola refers to in his article.

Here are my thoughts:

First of all, I would like to thank this group for helping me to find Dr.

Mercola. I didn't even know he existed until I started reading posts from all

of

you.

My initial rationale for choosing Dr. M was based on the fact that he was

willing to prescribe Minocin to treat the DM. At the time I was desperate to

find a doctor who would accommodate my request, since my rheumy was unwilling.

In other words I didn't chose Dr. Mercola based on his philosophy regarding

diet, I went to him to get the minocin. I'm sure you can all relate! :)

Boy was I in for a surprise when I went to see him. He agreed to prescribe

the minocin under one condition, I had to change my diet and start juicing. I

agreed! I was willing to do anything to get the drug.

A month went by before he gave me the prescription. During that time I was

juicing daily, eliminated wheat, all other grains, sugar, and dairy from my

diet, and was taking cod liver oil along with a few other supplements. Within

that time frame, my rash started fading and I was regaining more energy and was

sleeping less.

I started the minocin at the end of 07/01 and took it until 02/03. Of

course, I continued the diet, started working with Jody, the therapist; and from

time to time, Jordan performed live cell blood tests on me.

I attribute most of my success in recovering from DM to changing my diet,

especially juicing. I will never stop juicing; it helped me to build up my

immune system. Jody really helped me to better deal with stress and emotional

issues that contributed to the disease. I think that the stress I was dealing

with at the time of onset, along with some other issues, acted as a catalyst to

jump starting the disease. Throughout the treatment live cell blood testing

provided a picture of what I need to do to clean up my blood (ie., colon

cleansing, parasite cleansing, candida cleansing, etc.) to further improve.

This was

really helpful, as well.

In retrospect, I feel that the Minocin helped me to faster achieve remission.

However, I think I could have achieved the same results by just following

Mercola's program, even though it would have taken longer. Of course, I can't

say this with 100% certainty, because I did follow the antibiotic protocol.

If I had to do it all over again, it's hard to say if I would use the

minocin, knowing what I know now. As you all know, there are some cons to using

minocin; mainly, candida and the stress it puts on the liver. Currently, I am

trying to get the yeasties under control and trying to revive a sluggish liver.

Of course, this is nothing compared to the pain, weakness, and fatigue of DM.

I am just happy to be healthy these days. And I will be forever grateful to

Dr. Mercola for his help. He really is a very caring person who has his

patient's best interests at heart. This is rare in his profession.

Just my thoughts. I feel privileged to be part of this group and thank all

of you for your help.

Sincerely,

Suzanne Delich

Hi Suzanne,

Thanks for clearing this up. I agree Dr Mercola is a caring person. He once

said if he knew I was in Santa Barbara when he was he would have stopped in

and seen me.

I believe the antibiotics are not a cure, only a way to achieve and maintain

remission, and I am happy to hear you are doing better. Please keep us

informed of your continuing health status. I am always happy to hear when

someone

gets better!

I believe that Dr. Mercola does use AP - evidence in the story told

by his patient, with DM... his comment that he is thrilled

that he is able to have patients (RA) achieve remission without the

use of antibiotics is a recent achievement of his which is great...

Many who alter their diets and add supplements, cleanses etc.

benefit with reduced symptoms and even achieve remission, but others

will still need antibiotics. I'm sure he assess his patients

individually and bases his treatment accordingly. There are many

theories that auto-immune disorders are linked to allergic reactions

to foods and when the stimuli are removed the symptoms improve.

That's my 2 cents...

,

I am with you. I am glad thean tibitocis are available.

I would wonder if his techniques address the mycoplasma and how this

mechanism owrks.

As I recall there are two ways of having RA. I had the chronic, everyday,

every night pain with no let up. My brother-in-law has RA but it cycles on

and off. He could go weeks, sometimes months in between flair ups. Going on

special diets and supplements is a great idea, but I wonder if it will suffice

in the long run. Someone may simply cycle off for awhile and assume they are

" cured " .

Last January after almost 18 months in remission I got a bit sloppy with

my meds. Skipping and such when I knew I should maintain three day a week

schedule. After several weeks the RA started to reappear and really scared the

you-know-what out of me!! I went back on five days a week off weekends and

after a few weeks the pain in my hands went away. Now I eat healthy, take

supplements, AND take my minocin three days a week. Remission is great....pain

is

the pits!!! Martha
