If you really didn't want to eat the bun, how can NOT eating it be wrong? As far

as your kids seeing you toss it, what are you concerned about them seeing? Is

'wasting food' something that bothers you? Or have you admonished them for not

eating something that you thought they ought to? If you can find comfortable

words, perhaps you can say you are all going to have a 'reset' regarding your

ideas about eating. They ought to appreciate your honesty and will learn more

from you about making better choices too.

Best to you, Katcha

What comes to my mind is the EXternal input stuff - aka the 'shoulds'.

'Balanced' diet by WHAT standards? I believe that the IE authors talk about

'balancing' as rather a natural process where if one has eaten lots of meat for

a bit, your body may then start to direct you towards fruits and veggies to

'balance' out nutriments etc. Hard and fast rules are handy, but they are

'one-size-fits-well-most' at best. Plus I never thought of bread as a fabulous

source of calcium (for bone growth) ;-)

A bad example? I'm starting to get it! IE says their bodies will crave the grain group when they need it, right? I knew that 4 me, it felt great and was right to pitch the bun though!
