Guest guest
Thought you all might be interested in this. Wendi (no subject) Hi. My name is Granju and I am the author of a new book called " ATTACHMENT PARENTING:Instinctive Care for Your Baby and Young Child " . Dr. Sears wrote the introduction. My book has just been released by Pocket Books and you can read more about it at http://www.attachmentparent.com/ The book is available at Amazon and other online booksellers, as well as at your local bookstore. I ran across your e-mail list and thought that you and the other parents on your list might be interested in checking the book out. I would appreciate it if you could pass the info on the book along to other attachment mothers and fathers. And feel free to e-mail me at kgranju@... if I can answer any questions about ATTACHMENT PARENTING. Thanks! Guest guest
ANA (antinuclear antibodies) attack the cell nucleus. ( I really do not know what that means.) By itself the test means nothing, but it is an indicator that something can be wrong. It can be an indicator of the presence of lupus, raynaud's, sjogrens, or scleroderma (and maybe more). Two ANA subtypes called anti-double stranded ANA (anti-ds DNA) and anti-Sm antibodies are usually found in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) patients. Anti-ds DNA may play an important role in injury to blood vessels found in SLE. I think the blood vessel injury is interesting since that is what my derm told me rosacea is. To have lupus (SLE) you must test positive for 4 of the following 11 criteria: 1. Characteristic rash across the cheek 2. Discoid lesion rash 3. Photosensitivity 4. Oral ulcers 5. Arthritis 6. Inflammation of membranes in the lungs, the heart, or the abdomen 7. Evidence of kidney disease 8. Evidence of severe neurologic disease 9. Blood disorders, including low read and white blood cell and platelet counts 10. Immunologic abnormalities 11. Positive antinuclear antibody (ANA) I got this information on Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) from this comprehensive report (27 printed pages) on the following website. cea is mentioned as a condition resembling or accompanying SLE. http://healthwatch.medscape.com/medscape/p/G_Library/ CBSHealthWatch - Library Re: Re: (no subject) >What exactly is the ANA? Guest guest
Hi Mark, Great that your skin is looking good. Well done on your success. I would temper the " the answer to everyone's problems " statement with a comment that for many it won't be that simple. It is easy to get caught in the euphoria of success and not be reasonable about making wide sweeping statements. We all need to be scientifically accurate, honest, and open to being wrong in order to make real progress. So I would like to be wrong, but fixing everyone's rosacea is just not as simple as you suggest. davidp.
