Bunny--I'm not able to analyze your report, but I do pick up on other things in

your post that concern me. First of all, let me just mirror back to you that

you clearly HAVE NOT CHOSEN to have a hysterectomy, are NOT READY for a

hysterectomy, HAVE MANY UNANSWERED QUESTIONS, and DO NOT HAVE CONFIDENCE in your

doc.

If I were in your position I would want to know how common or uncommon my

symptoms are, and exactly what it means for a 56 yr. old woman to present with

these symptoms. Is this cancer? Pre-cancer? Assuming worst case scenario

(that it is cancerous or a greater than 50% chance that it will be), what other

options are available? If not cancer, then what problem are we solving?

Constipation?

If you are scared it means that you do not YET understand your medical condition

and you haven't had time to do your research. I mean, of course, even if you do

exhaustive research and come to the conclusion that a hyst is YOUR CHOICE and

even if you find a doc in whom you have ABSOLUTE TRUST (in other words, when you

find that doc you will not be worrying about the possibility that s/he will have

a bad day, because you will feel well cared-for and will have assured yourself

of that doc's skills), you will be scared, but not the kind of scared that

combines a helpless, powerless, confused feeling. I hope you understand the

distinction I'm making.

You need time to research. If I were in your shoes, I would NOT have a surgery

date dangling over my head to put pressure on me. I would cancel it and do my

DUE DILIGENCE DUTY TO MYSELF to read, research, interview. I understand the

pressure you feel to have the biopsy, and I sort of understand the docs thinking

that you will have only one surgery if he does the hyst at the same time, but

frankly, how can you agree to a hyst if you don't know that you are dealing with

cancer???? Are you seeing a gyn oncologist? Perhaps that should be your 3rd

opinion.

Good luck, hang in there, keep asking questions.

Kay--I am also in the Phoenix area and without a gyno. Moved here 8 months ago

and saw Dr. Deborah because a trusted person said that had removed

her fibroids hysterscopically and that was an excellent surgeon.

said I was not a candidate for hysteroscopy due to largest fibroid at the

fundus, and recommended I have a lap supracervical hysterectomy, which just

happens to be her specialty surgery. I felt her office was a factory--she

doesn't see patients unless they are candidates for surgery--her NPs do all

routine gyno care. I was completely FREAKED OUT by the possibility of

hysterectomy and that's when I found this list and started reading everything I

could on alternative treatments for fibroids. That was about 3 months ago.

Since then I have eliminated refined sugar and basically all white, processed

foods from my diet, added a little soy milk to my diet, stepped up my

consumption of salmon, fruits, veggies, eat only organic beef if at all, eat

mostly organic fruits/veggies, drink only hormone-free milk, stepped up my

exercise, started using naproxen to control my bleeding, and have taken control

of my uterine health by being on this list and educating myself on my options.

My bleeding has slowed down so much I don't know what to think--much longer time

between periods and much lighter. I'm 49 and it's possible I'm shifting out of

perimeno into real meno, but it's too soon to tell. I'm still chronically

constipated but know what to do--I have no pain or cramps, just a 12-week

uterus. I believe Tori Hudson, a naturepath, practices in Tuscon. Check out

her book--you can find it in the library. Don't know her work personally, but

she seems worth investigating. I also got the name of an acupuncturist who

supposedly has experience dealing with fibroids but I haven't looked into it

yet. There are quite a few books on healing fibroids naturally in the

sdale library. I will post if I find a good practitioner--and please let

me know what you find. Also, a Maya Abdominal Massage therapist is in

Phoenix--I've been in e-mail contact with her and she sounds worth

investigating, too. Write me off-list if you want more info. I am SO GLAD you

canceled your surgery. Keep in touch.
