Guest guest
Hi, The glycolic peels may make your rosacea worse in the long run. Please be careful in considering this option. Glycolic peels are an exfoliant therefore the skin will take on a smoother appearance, but it is nothing dramatic. After having the last two peels done I would get red splotches here and there after the treatment that lasted a few days. Not too long after having the peels I started with the bright red all over the face routine and have been dealing with getting rid of it ever since. Im getting there....... I worked with people that were also doing the peels and they would get splotchy afterwards too, so that told me that although the peels could have accelerated the rosacea, others had the same reaction and have normal skin. Glycolic acid is tough on sensitive skin. I tried Proactiv not too long after the peels and had to stop using it after a few days because it was burning my face and I was getting splotchy again. Proactiv has a product in their line that contains glycolic acid (not to mention other ones in the line that have Benzoyl Peroxide). I have been having microdermabrasion treatments done and that improves the texture of the skin alot and is recommended for helping oily skin. I have had 10 treatments so far and will have 12. I have had no negative reactions from having them done. Bill
Guest guest
HI, be careful about jumping into glycolic peels. I had purchased a series (4 treatments) about 3 years back I stopped after the second one because the pain just wasn't worth it to me. My face really wasn't too bad after the first treatment swollen and red for a few days but after the second I swelled, was in pain that was relieved only by keeping cold wash cloths on my face continuously and full of scabs. I didn't have really pronounced rosacea symptoms at the time but have seen my face get redder ever since. I can't say with any certainty that the peels had anything to do with my symptoms becoming worse, but I don't think I saw any benefit from the treatments either. all pain and no gain. Guest guest
I don't know whether a glycolic peel is the same as a power chemical peel, but an early post from Dr. Nase was pretty adamant that chemical peels were bad. from /group/rosacea-support/1990.html > 2.
